Subject: RE: Bury St. Edmunds sessions From: Waddon Pete Date: 12 Mar 09 - 08:56 AM Hello PoppaGator, Just wanted to note that the Red Lodge is actually some distance outside Bury St., Edmunds, although it has a Bury St. Edmunds address. Take junction 39 off the A14 then follow the B1506 to your destination. Sounds fun....... Folkwaller......I come to Bury St. Edmunds......not to praise him! I'll get me toga.... Best wishes, Peter |
Subject: RE: Bury St. Edmunds sessions From: PoppaGator Date: 11 Mar 09 - 06:21 PM 'scuse me, please, for failing to turn off boldface ;) I meant only to BF the two words "Red Lodge." |
Subject: RE: Bury St. Edmunds sessions From: folkwaller Date: 11 Mar 09 - 02:14 PM Well dang my thingy, what's going on with this thread. Noel Coward, drummers, jokes about Edmund being dead. When did that happen. |
Subject: RE: Bury St. Edmunds sessions From: PoppaGator Date: 11 Mar 09 - 12:24 PM Pardon the thread drift, please. I'm taking this opportunity to reach out to folks living in and around Bury St. Edmunds. If you don't mind, I'd like to mention/promote my brother Paul's rock-n-roll gig this coming Saturday evening, March 14, at the Red Lodge, 70 Turnpike Road, Bury St Edmunds. (For any of you Facebook members out there, see the FB "event" page entitled "Jo's Birthday Bash.") Yeah, it's not folk, AND it's not an audience-participation singaround or session. Just a good-time "classic rock" cover-band party. Paul is a really excellent drummer with years of experience in New Orleans, playing with some of the greatest R&B musicians who ever lived: Professor Longhair, Earl King, Allen Toussaint, etc. When he sits down at the drum kit, people invariably get up to dance. Any of you living in that area who might enjoy such an evening, please be advised. OK, that's it. Sorry for the interruption, and thanks for your indulgence. We will now return to our regularly-scheduled traditional folk discussion. |
