We missed Sean & Rachel and Dave but ew know where they live! We had many somber songs as fits this time of remembrance but what amazing songs they were. Well all being well we meet on Wednesday 3 December and that will be our first anniversary! |

A big test? Will he give the proud people of Cuba a chance? |
Subject: RE: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: Phil Edwards Date: 05 Nov 08 - 07:38 PM I may not have mentioned it, but my brother-in-law's best friend's Mum used to make her own mint-balls. Not only that, but William Santus (himself) tried to get the recipe off her, and failed - she wasn't selling. Bit of a shame as far as the rest of us are concerned, really. Anyway, that was another very fine night. Although, when Les said we shouldn't leave without singing this song, I was a bit concerned it was going to be the Star-Spangled Banner... |

Subject: RE: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: Les in Chorlton Date: 31 Oct 08 - 04:18 AM Vin, if you can get a bus to Chorlton Bus Station you will have got to the end of Beech Road - the other end 1/2 a mile has the Beech. Look forward to meeting you Vin. I wouldn't be at all surprised if somebody didn't offer you a lift back as far as the Metro at Trafford Bar. Chiz L in C |
Subject: RE: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: GUEST,Working Radish Date: 30 Oct 08 - 09:52 AM 86, possibly 84, possibly 47. This page should tell you all you need to know. If you're going to use the 'journey planner' application, the postcode of the Beech is M21 9EG. Fire or cellars, eh? I was planning something more on a theme of "here's a song I've been working on since I was last here". We shall see! |
Subject: RE: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: Vin2 Date: 30 Oct 08 - 08:55 AM Any idea what the best bus is to get to the Beech from M/c City centre |
Subject: RE: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: GUEST,Dave Bishop Date: 30 Oct 08 - 06:21 AM I would suggest songs about bangers - but I don't know any! |
Subject: Bonfire Night at the Beech, Chorlton From: Les in Chorlton Date: 30 Oct 08 - 05:06 AM It's looking good for next Wednesday when it will be a Singaround on Bonfire Night at the Beech. Kate has suggested a theme of fire which is seasonal and dramatic. I guess songs about Cellars would not be out of order. Songs and tunes mostly but not exclusively traditional will be most welcome. Is anybody composing the Ballad of Sale Folk Club? Chiz L in C |
