Im going to a fundraiser on Saturday for Macmillan Nurses, the guest auctioneer is author Jeffrey Archer, Champagne Carol and I are fortunate to sitting at the top table with him, any one got any questions I can decently put to him remember this is a charity do not a political one and i will try and ask the best question.

He is a very unpleasant self-important person. I know a lawyer who personally did some legal work for Archer, and Archer was very bullying and nasty to that lawyer's assistant lawyer (not me).

Here a question - don't know if he has got the answer. Doubt if he has.

"How can I stop stirring up my friends with obviously provocative questions?"

note to self, treat as troll and ignore.

Jeffrey Archer..now there's a man of true conviction !http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1420132.stm Of course if the tory party hadn't destroyed the health service in the way that it did, then we might not need to raise money for essential nurses by charity !! Have a nice lunch.Raise lots of money.

The critic Sheridan Morley, then a student at Merton, was present and recalled the occasion:(When Archer met the Beatles)

"At the interval I went to the toilet, and there beside me was Ringo Starr. He asked if I knew this Jeffrey Archer bloke. I said everyone in Oxford was trying to work out who he was. Ringo said: 'He strikes me as a nice enough fella, but he's the kind of bloke who would bottle your piss and sell it.' "

It must be nice married to a fragrant woman like Mary.

Ask him about his shoplifting in Canada. or who actually has to sit down and write his dreadful books. Or just ask him what he thinks of the Crick biography. Will he ever get round to suing Crick? After all, the book did make him out to be a liar, a thief, a cheat and an all-round, first-class shit.
I've met him twice, and had to endure exactly the same anecdotes each time, delivered with not a scintilla of originality. See if he does the "When I was three I wanted to be four, and when I was four I wanted to be Prime Minister" schtick yet again.

I'm not suprised you had to get pissed to meet Archer. If your social circle consists of liars, criminals, sad gits who need to use prostitutes when married, insider dealers and self-delusional tosspots and popinjays.

And that's just Archer.

Anyone else you'd like to tell us about?

After all, no point in being a Tory if you can't brag about how much more of a socialite you are than the poor proles grubbing about in the filth and reek below the lofty heights and rarefied air occupied the privileged few. . .

Quote from Jefferys blog,

"In the evening, I travelled to Bedford to do an auction which raised £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and was organised by Pippa McLuskie and her husband Ian. At every function I attend, there's always someone who's devoted hours of their time and energy to making something work, for which they get little reward other than the joy of seeing a job well done. Pippa and Ian are two such people, supporting a first class cause. Once again, I didn't escape until nearly midnight, but the entertainment - the singing waiters and two disc jockeys from Bedford - sent everyone home in a happy mood, despite these tough times."

says it all really
