Subject: Songs where the lover (s) die at the end From: GUEST,Tim Date: 09 Nov 08 - 06:30 AM Hello, if only to put off doing the work I'm supposed to be doing, am attempting to make a compilation of songs where either one or both lovers die at the end. Your expert suggestions would be most welcome... |

Subject: RE: Songs where the lover (s) die at the end From: Midchuck Date: 09 Nov 08 - 06:58 AM In Bluegrass, it's more or less the rule. There's more or less a whole category of songs, often called "Katie-and-Willies." (Watch it, you Brits! Keep it clean!) When we do "Long Black Veil," we explain carefully that the song is NOT bluegrass, because the female protagonist is still alive at the end. Peter |
