I have heard the pair in Manchester. I thought at first it was a South American sort of sound but now someone has mentioned it I would say it was more Gypsy. Whatever it was, it sounded amned good to me. Lively and vibrant enough to cheer up a rainy Market Street anyway:-)

I heard three Romanian lads in the streets of Cork awhile back, two boxes & a trumpet. The box players were actually doing harmonies with each other rather than both playing the same thing. It wasn't Irish tunes - I think it was traditional music from their homeland. They were only young teenagers, about 14 or so. Man, those guys were tight - it really rocked. Brilliant.

Well, all I can say is, that having to put up with a trumpet is a small price to pay for being able to enjoy an accordion...

Does it have anything to do with increased numbers of Eastern European migrant workers? Most welcome in my opinion. Book them soon before they all go home

An interesting mix, accordion and trumpet.   I've always been amazed there aren't more busking with some similar combination. The video has lousy audio pick-up typical of many home video cams so anybody sounds less than perfect to say the least. I wouldn't put too much faith in it for anything except half-assed video.

I saw an accordion and trumpet duo busking in Italy a couple of years ago. They were brilliant. Somebody said they were Bulgarian Gypsies.

I sense an impending deluge of folkish derision. I for one heartily applaud these guys for bringing something lively and authentic to our streets which certainly has the ring of the traditional about it without being in any way folksy. I was just curious as who they were that's all, and if anyone could tell me what part of the world such trumpet & accordion duets hail from.

We're seeing them everywhere just now - on the streets of Preston, Manchester, Newcastle, and Liverpool - these virtuoso accordion & trumpet duos playing with a zeal & stamina I find quite staggering - and very welcome. But who are they? And from where did they come?
