Subject: Folk on Desert Island Discs From: Anne Lister Date: 17 Nov 08 - 11:25 AM Just thought I'd pay credit here to the fact that two weeks running there have been some folk musicians on Desert Island Discs. Last week Allan Ahlberg chose Norma Waterson (and I've forgotten which song - dammit) and this week David Davies the Conservative MP chose Munday Turner's "Stealing my Democracy". Not long ago our very own Crowder Cref had his starring moment on the same show. Just makes me think better of the people who have such good taste in music! (on the other hand, why aren't they choosing ME?!) Anne |

Subject: RE: Folk on Desert Island Discs From: The Borchester Echo Date: 17 Nov 08 - 02:31 PM One of David Davis's choices was the theme from Schindler's List (composer John Williams) performed by Itzhak Perlman. I hope you mean that and not the terminally dreary Ashokan Farewell as played by composer Jay Ungar, which he also chose. Allan Ahlberg chose Lal Waterson's Anna Dixie sung by Norma Waterson. |
