Subject: RE: Music: Christmas songs (not carols) UK From: GUEST,OLDNICKILBY Date: 20 Nov 08 - 05:35 AM Stan Accringtons "Three Wise Women " takes a lot of beating for a really silly Christmas song as does "There are No lights on Our Christmas Tree" or the Aussie "Bush Turkey" is just as funny |

Subject: RE: Music: Christmas songs (not carols) UK From: Dave the Gnome Date: 20 Nov 08 - 10:41 AM Would it being a church concert rule out pagan songs and, posibly Wassails? My best guess is that they would want popular songs, or at least songs that are recognisable or that people can relate to. May be best to stick to cliched stuff such as Frosty the Snowman or Winter Wonderland but for something different Steeleye Span do some good stuff on their Winter CD. One of my favourites is Anne Sofie von Otters Home for Christmas. I also used to have a copy of Magpie Lane's Wassail - A Country Christmas but I dunno where it is:-9 If you want any more info feel free to ask me. Cheers DeG |
