My husband Crow is staying in Kent (Tenterden) on business till the 15th of December. Mostly he's busy working, but would love a chance to hear some good music. Is there a pub nearby with good sessions? Also I know he would love an excuse to go down to Rye or to Hastings, where we have friends.

Any help appreciated...

Bekki

I believe the Tenterden session is back in the Woolpack now, probably Weds.

Maidstone I think still has the Greyhound, PM Growler here, and possibly another club, alternating Mondays, PM WYZIWIG here (not Wysiwig, make sure of the "z").

Not sure what is in Canterbury now, but must be something.

In Hastings we have a regular session in The Stag in the Old Town on Tuesdays and both the Jenny Lind and The Stag have live music at weekends (although not always folk). The Observer newspaper website is a good place to find out what's going on. We also have a regular publication called the Ultimate Alternative which lists gigs etc.

Try the http://www.lewesarmsfolkclub.org/ every Saturday night. We've got Belshazzar's Feast on Saturday 6th. December. During the day, Paul Sartin is running an all-day fiddle workshop and Paul Hutchinson is running an all-day accordion workshop.

Full details and booking forms are on the club's website.

For events throughout Sussex try the http://whatson.brighton.co.uk/folk/index.asp

Many thanks all,

I have sent the link to my better half and hoping he'll be able to catch some of this, by a lucky chance my stepdaughter will be with him for 4 days starting Saturday on her way to France and Germany and I am hoping they will have a chance to catch a show or a session while she's there...

Thursday 4th. December. Whitstable Labour Club in Belmont Road have a rare not-quite-in-season performance by both the St Nicholas-at-Wade Hoodeners and the Deal Hoodeners.

Synbyn (Bob Kenward) was far to modest to say, but he's in my diary as performing at The Good Intent at Rochester on Tuesday 9th. December.

Martin Nail also runs his English country music session at The Horseshoe in Mellior Street, near London Bridge station on Sunday 7th. December.

Apart from that, the Darent Valley Champions are touring Shoreham (near Sevenoaks) on Saturday 13th. December beginning at The George at 8.15 p.m. The Deal Hoodeners will be out earlier in the day at either Deal or Sandwich - better check website.

Thanks all, I had a computer crash right after my last post on this thread (actually while researching links in this thread), and have had to borrow someone else's computer, and I've had to focus on work related matters as a result.Really appreciate all the leads, and likely they've been useful to other folks as well...
