Subject: RE: Cheshire sessions December From: Dave Roberts Date: 06 Feb 09 - 04:13 AM Regarding the Boar's Head's Folk Session and Poetry & Pints/Open Mic nights; they've both been going for years and they're both very relaxed, friendly and informal evenings. There's a lot of crossover between the two events and the only real difference is the P&P/Open Mic night, as the name implies, gives people the option of using a (very good) PA system and is a little more structured, so that we can ensure that everyone gets a fair go. Both events will also be major fringe events at the Folk & Boat Festival in June. |
Subject: RE: Cheshire sessions December From: Les in Chorlton Date: 06 Feb 09 - 02:53 AM Thanks Pete, I know we should get out more - for all kinds of reasons. Our song session has gone well for a year and we have decided to try first and third Wednesday. I know that bumps into a few other things but it's hard to find a clear night that suits everybody. We have had one Beginners Tunes Session that was great fun but although most of us are beginners it was still abit quick for some. Finding a night when the core tune players can get together is tricky but sooner or later we will make the sarcens, Ye Old Vic and places in Mobberley. Cheers L in C |
Subject: RE: Cheshire sessions December From: Peter Stockport Date: 05 Feb 09 - 03:17 PM Les, Wednesdays I'm either at the Session at Ye Olde Vic in Stockport 2nd and 3rd Wed which is of course very near! Or, the session in Mobberly 1st and 4th wed, both of which are in Cheshire!!Both of which are excellent English tune sessions Tuesdays I stay in and do housework, I'll try and get to the beginners session though. Cheers Peter |

Subject: RE: Cheshire sessions December From: Mo the caller Date: 03 Feb 09 - 02:35 PM The Dusty isn't an "around" it's a jump in with both feet, a tune or a song. Nice mixture, though the wiser singers wait till the tuners have driven the noisier diners away. We get some solos and some that raise the roof as everyone piles in. |
