I doubt if any exists; would be interested to see it if it did.
Hennessy's (now long closed sadly) was a small bar not ideally shaped for sessions, let alone filming them. Whenever Johnny was there the place was heaving full.
After Hennesey's closed Johnny frequented The Westbridge on the main street.
I have a sneaking feeling that TG4 made a television programme about him following his death, but am not sure of this.
You might try contacting Oidreach an Chlair (OAC), the local heritage organisation, via their website, they should be able to tell you what there is.

And Mullagh and Quilty (O'Connor's, although that was already shut for last years' Willie Week).

Drink - driving has some effect with some people too, but, then again, not with quite a few others!

Let's hope no more will close during the next year but I fear there will be more casualties (I heard from a reliable source - Tom Queally - that Mary Fahey's next door on the Ennis Road is to close)

Other reasons - age and the ability to sell the license, as distinct from the pub, for prices determined by their effective value in urban areas.

What is considered to be local in this respect and have these 5 pubs closed since last year?

Is this due to the ban on public smoking - introduced in Ireland last year - or due to some other reason?

Great singing session in Ennistymon on the Friday night - in the wonderful O'Heaghrain's pub. The fringe lives!

Wonderful tribute to Ben Lennon (Charlie's brother) in the community hall yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon with many well known musicians contributing (Vincent Griffin, Charlie Lennon, Joe Burke, Mick O'Connor, Paddy Canny, John & James Kelly, Ciaran Curran).

This is part of the Summer School's policy of recent years in doing tributes to people while they are still alive, excellent idea!

It can feel quite strange to be heading back to Miltown from McCarhty's at three in the morning - and meeting the rush hour traffic heading out there for a pint!

Hennesy's, I'm afraid, is close.
Michael,

Try Marrinan's (in the main street) during the day - the same system tends to operate. As the town gets noisier, the singers move further and further out - sometimes ending up in Gleesons or McCarthy's of Coor (which may be difficult to find on your map), in the small hours.

INstrumental music sessions are all over the place, all the time.

We have only been to "Willie Week" once but we'll never forget it. We are mostly interested in the traditional singing and this never occurs where there are, or may be, instruments. It's in a pub out of Miltown Malbay. We were turned on to the festival by the Dublin Traditional Singers and when we asked how to find the singing we were told to go to Hennessy's pub at three in the afternoon and someone would recognize us and whisper the name of the pub in our ear. We went there at the appointed time and three people whispered the name of the pub to us. It was out in the country and the singing went on all night, every night.

Its very possible that nothing quite like the'Willie Week' exists anywhere else on this planet. Pipes, fiddles, concertinas, avccordeons and singing till dawn each day ....and then some! Having atended all 26 annual feasts of non-stop music, I can attest to that. The Crosses of Annagh and Mullagh are good out -of Miltown malbay spots to check out. Sometimes a little further afield such as Enistymon.

I've been a couple of times and you will find no shortage of music. At night the pubs in Miltown Malbay get very busy so I go to an outlying village. There a few to choose from and music at most of them. The sessions in the villages start later. I'll check my map and let you know the name of the village where I found the best music later.

Hi there! It only takes two more weeks and then I´ll go from Germany to Miltown for the Clancy week again. Has anybody been there? I just want to chat about the best sessions, Ceilis and so on. What´s aup around Miltown in the other villages? Are there any session that are not so packed as in Miltown? Just let me know...
