When I was just a sprout going to my old country school, (the one where we walked the proverbial mile), we had an old Victrola phonograph. For those of you who never had the pleasure of winding up the machine and hearing concert hall reproduction of the classics, you don't know what you missed. Enough of that. One of the old records we played was a song that went something like this: He went in like a lion, a wild raging lion, "lots of forgotten words" when a great big cup of mocha, hit him on the cocoa, followed by some huckleberry jam. He went in like a lion, a wild raging lion but when she got through, he came out like a lamb.

"Maybe there's no one as ancient as I am" hmmm

Well, George, I seriously doubt I'm half as ancient as you, but our wind-up Victrola had several one sided very breakable disks that included the Flight of the Bumblebee, the William Tell Overture, and something that began "Last night da vind come and blow down de shuttair, so I call de landlord an' say..." I don't recognize yours, do you recognize these?
Blessings,
Barbara

Barbara,

I remember those records. That's where I first listened to Richard Wagners "Ride of the Valkryies". Yes I remember the flight of the Bumble Bee, and who could forget the William Tell Overture. Remember Freddy Martins orchestra and Bumble Boogie with Jack Fina At the piano? I still love it. No, I don't recgognize your song, however it may be funnier than the lion.

Thanks for the reply,

George
