Here's one that I hope EVERY Mudcatter in the area will attend!

The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club is honored to present "A Celtic Christmas" with Seamus Kennedy this coming Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

The concert will be held in the Fair Lawn Community Center, located at 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, NJ. We have a beautiful 170 seat theater with a great stage that is close to the audience, comfy theater seats, state of the art lighting and sound, and a perfect intimate space to enjoy a concert!   Because seating is limited, we suggest ordering tickets in advance through our website - www.hurdygurdyfolk.org . Remaining tickets will be available at the door on the day of the concert.

I am really looking forward to this one! I can't think of a better way to celebrate the season!

I'm really looking forward to doing it.

I'm just back from Texas whee Ed Miller, Rich Brotherton and I did a Christmas show at he Plaza theater.


We had a blast, and I think the audience did too.

Got to meet 'Catter Uncle Phil again. What a nice guy.

I reckon that you folks in New Jersey will have just as much fun as we did in Texas. Do yourselves a favor a catch this show.

I looked at the Hurdy Gurdy web site a few minutes ago. Youse guys have some first-class talent scheduled in the 2009. Looks like a great club.

Actually, I did have to pay to hear myself perform years ago in Boston.
I was booked in a well-known folk-club which shall remain nameless.
I got there in the afternoon for set-up and soundcheck, left my instruments in the dressing-room and then went out for a bite to eat.
Came back an hour and a half later, and the guy on the door didn't know me from Adam.
"I'm Seamus Kennedy, I'm the performer."
"Yeah, right." he replies. "Where's your guitar?"
"In the dressing-room." says I.
"Yeah, right." he says again.
"Can you get the manager, please? He booked me."
"He won't be in til later."
He insisted that I pay my admission like everybody else.
So I forked over the $10 and went in
I thought to myself "Geez, I better be worth it.."
After the show, I explained to the manager what had happened and he refunded my money.
I WAS worth it.

Hope that doesn't happen at the Hurdy-Gurdy, Ron!

For those of you who were unable to join us yesterday, I have to tell you that you missed an outstanding concert!!!   Seamus treated us to an afternoon of great music and fun - holiday tunes as well as the trademark songs that have made him such a delightful entertainer.

I imagine that most Mudcatters know that Seamus gives an incredible performance, but if you have not had the opportunity to see him - I urge you to check him out!! Visit his website at www.seamus-kennedy.com for his calendar!    Also, be sure to pick up a copy of his book!

It was my pleasure.

And I have to say that the Hurdy Gurdy audience is one of the best singing crowds I've ever had in front of me.

They joined in with gusto and were a delight to hear and it made my job so much easier.

And since we're doing the mutual admiration thing, I caught about an hour of your show 'Traditions' on WFDU on my drive home. Great stuff.
Unfortunately I lost the signal just as Kathy Moser was about to sing Big Yellow Taxi. Bummer!
