The old guy played banjo all the time also. Heck I was about 10 and since I am 55 now that would be 45 years ago so I can only hear bits in my head, he would also blow the same tune on his harmonica would be fun to track it down though |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Does anyone know a song Sally G or D From: Acorn4 Date: 08 Dec 08 - 07:51 PM There is an old banjo tune called "Sally Goodin" - not sure if this is the same but it sounds very similar. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Does anyone know a song Sally G or D From: jimmyt Date: 08 Dec 08 - 07:38 PM SUre it isn't Molly D? Kingston Trio did it, "Here we go 'round again, singin a song about Molly D, Far away, I know not where, She's the gal who waits for me." one verse mentions another gal, Sally Brown |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Does anyone know a song Sally G or D From: katlaughing Date: 08 Dec 08 - 07:32 PM Probably not the right one, but worth noting, from This Site? SALLY GO 'ROUND THE SUNSHINE traditional song, adapted and arranged by Suzi Shelton Sally, go 'round the sunshine, Sally, go 'round the moon, Sally, go 'round the sunshine, all on an afternoon; I said, "Now, Sally, go 'round the sunshine, Sally go 'round the moon, Sally go 'round the sunshine, all on an afternoon!" I said, "Now, Sally, dance around with me!" "Now, Sally, dance around with me!" "Now, Sally, dance around with me!" "Now, Sally, don't fall down with me!" |
Subject: Tune Req: Does anyone know a song Sally G or D From: olddude Date: 08 Dec 08 - 06:55 PM When I was a kid, there was an old timer that would sit on his porch and play a song, somewhere in the chorus was the words "and dance to my darling Sally G or Sally D" does this ring a bell with anyone, going nuts trying to find out if such a song exist or did he write it or is it a trad song. I think it is the old timey country or hobo woodie Guthrie era Dan |
