Subject: Kendall's book is back inprint From: kendall Date: 10 Dec 08 - 12:40 PM I talked to the boss at North Country press today, and was told that "Stories told in the kitchen" is back in print, and at the same low price of $5.95. 28 years in print is quite amazing. You may order from me or them. They don't do autographs. |

Subject: RE: Kendall's book is back inprint From: kendall Date: 10 Dec 08 - 07:34 PM I have one from the first printing. It came from a library and Jacqui got it from Amazon for twice the original price of $4.95. You may have that one for $10.00 including postage, or a newer edition for $5.95 plus postage. I expect the newest run will be more than $5.95. |

Subject: RE: Kendall's book is back inprint From: Fortunato Date: 21 Dec 08 - 09:30 AM Kendall Got it! Now I've just got to figure out how to get the Dewey Decimal System stickers off of it without damaging the neat illustration by Tim Sample (is he related to Junior?) of the rockingchair endangered hound. I've read as far as the foreword, since I'm saving the stories for Christas Eve and after, one each evening... Here's an excerpt: "...colorful characters like Wallace Mallet who built a coffin with a rudder and centerboard...to sail into the great unknown." Wallace reminds me of my Uncle Roy down in Waubeek, Al. whose wife forbade him to go hunting on Sunday. Roy had him a deer stand about a half a mile back in the woods behind his house. After his wife's admonition (read threat), Uncle Roy expanded the platform of the deer stand to reach between the three adjacent Live Oak trees. He added two upper decks, one for a small pulpit, and the other a tiny choir loft. He hauled his gasoline generator out to the stand and wired up a boombox to sit on the choir loft deck. Sunday morning when he didn't show up at church, his wife Geneva tracked down him in the deer stand singing bass with the Five Blind Boys of Alabama and beating time on the stock of his old 300 Savage deer rifle. write if you get work, send money Chance |
