For those who want to hear this recording of THE CHRISTMAS ROSE, there is a generous 2-minute sound sample at CDBaby. Click to play, or Click to see the information about the album "Christmas in Wales / Nadolig yng Nghymru" performed by Telyneg with Robin Huw Bowen.

I wish I could help with this. I checked the thread in hope of finding another memorable Christmas song since Mudcat has been the source of many each year. A Google search brings up a number of videos with the Christmas Rose title. I only checked one video but I doubt it is the song you are searching for. If you keep trying you might find the right one. Liz Mitchell has a recording of a song called Christmas Rose but the words are very different from what you have posted.

Thanks for posting. Hope we will find out more.

Does anybody know a song called 'The Christmas Rose?' I heard a version of it by Telyneg, with Robin Huw Bowen, and am trying to find out if there are more lyrics. I am also wondering where it comes from (but that's a project for later). If anyone has any information, it would be much appreciated!

Here's what I know so far:

The loveliest of roses comes not in summer's bright.
It waits 'til earth is sleeping and blooms at Christmastime.
The purity of Jesus its whiteness glorifies,
Its rosy blush reflecting the warmth in Mary's eyes.
The dainty Christmas roses come smiling through the snow
To greet the birthday of a king amid the candles' glow.

The holy babe of Bethl'em for us in love was born,
So like the flower of beauty, the rose without a thorn.
The purity of Jesus, etc.

Thanks very,

Nan
