I shudder to think of it and maybe I shouldn't even say it, but, as Iggy has been annointed as the new leader of the Canuck Liberal Party, maybe she exploded???

I just happened to note, in another thread, that she said that sometimes she stays away from Mudcat.

While I think it's great that we, as a community, notice people's absences, I also try to hold a good thought that if someone isn't visible here, they may just be having MORE FUN somewhere else, hopefully IRL and away from their puder. And I wish 'em well, in thgat case!

Thanks for thinkin' about me, guys!

I had decided to take a break from the 'cat, but not for so long. Life intervened, some good, some not so good: husband got home from long job away, my baby sister was ill and I spent a week with her, and now she's getting better, then I realised how far behind I was in Christmas orders, so have been locked in the studio trying to finish up. I have two left to finish, but they are at a reasonably advanced stage.

And I'm currently 'renovating' feral number 2, who showed up a while back and looks to be a younger sibling of Snowball's, except this one is long haired fluffy tortie/tabby, about three-four months old, tiny, don't know sex.

A friend has offered to take it if I could tame it a little. I've got it from the run off as soon as human appears stage to living in my cathouse (didn't know that about me, didjaz!), staring in through the patio doors all the time, eating regularly (may be overdoing that, critter's looking like a butterball, but oh so cute), taking food from my hand, liking petting, and just the last couple days, allows picking up and holding for a few minutes.

Happy Solstice, to you all, and a Merry Christmas thereafter!

Bee!

We added a semi-feral to our mouser-brigade this week.

...allows picking up and holding for a few minutes...

That's semi-tame. Sounds like it's catch and give-time, or it's YOURS! :~)

Hi, Bee! So you like cats, eh?

Well, good for you.

Glad to "see" you here, and know that you're okay!

Gnu, t'anks, b'y!

Susan, all cats are semi feral, IME. Definitely catch and give time. No Keeping! And these really cold nights worry me, even though his/her small house is well insulated, dry, and has fluffy nesting material (old wooly sweater).

Azizi, I love and admire cats. Every one has a different personality, different little quirks, some are smart and some are dumb, some loving all, some never like anybody, some are one person critters. They are seldom really 'tame'; humans haven't edited out the wild little super-predator inside every pampered housecat. They are so perfect in their form and function, and so beautiful. I'd have a half-dozen if I didn't want to stay married!

Good to 'see' you, as well. ;-)

One of my cats left me Bee, I had two in my office that I rescued. Wilma and Betty both American bobtails that I have had for 4 years. Betty left me, I saw her with a little neighbor girl 4 houses down and doesn't want to come home. I spoil both of them to pieces but I guess Betty found a better home to be with. Wilma her sister is now always on my lap at my office. I have been rejected.   Now I am use to be rejected by females ... but now even female cats reject me ... OH boy !!

Well. If the little girl and Betty are happy, you can find joy in that, too... sniff.

Wilma says, "Whaddya mean rejected?! I'm right here on your lap, aren't I?!" *bg* (I would be very sad if one of my cats had ever done that, but every one I've had since 1983 has been an inside-only-cat + cat-run/chicken coop, so not much chance of it.)

Bee...what I said in my PM. :-)

Aww, olddude, sorry you've been abandoned. Some cats is just fickle, or else they have an agenda that doesn't match the human they're supposed to be with. Maybe Wilma told betty to take off, eh? ;-D

Becca, the boys are fine, sneaking in five-second bats at the tree ornaments - takes about five seconds for them to get noisy enough for husband to notice and bellow at the guilty party. Then they either 'hide' behind the tree, or under a wooden chair and stare fixedly at him for another five minutes.

As for feral new kitty, I am ready to grab and package whenever my friend makes it down, which should be soon. I just hope the new owner has enough patience for this little kitty, because a new place is going to put it in a fit of the skitties, for sure.

I sure understand how people end up out in the country with two dozen ferals living in their back forty. It isn't a good thing, necessarily, but I see how it happens. :(

Kat, yup. :-D

Ack! Take the sign down, quick!

Update on feral kitten:

New owner came to get kitty today. Two hours of cajoling and feeding and playing with a string later, I managed to catch him by the scruff (unfortunately, not firmly enough) and put him in a carrier. Both new owner and myself, through being old and slow of reflex, are now sporting long bloody wounds which we hope swift cleaning and treatment will prevent further consequences.

Another couple of weeks and I think it would have been an easier job, but timing can't always be perfect, and he's on his way to a new home where he'll be pampered and petted (as soon as he's out of his current murderous mood) and well looked after - there's even a cat-loving doggie waiting for him.

Happy Mew Year, everybody!

Both of us are well aware of that, so we'll be watching for problems, gnu. A good sign is that the smaller scratches are not raised and angry looking, and the one big long one... well, it ain't too bad. We both scrubbed up like surgeons afterwards!

Bee gave us a great recipe on the Mexican Chili thread.

She seems to have given up Mudcat about January, 2009.

Problems or just moved on?
