He has a large assortment of folk songs in a database which will also produce printable dots, ABC and MIDI files. He is also set up so that it will transpose tunes into a different key to suit your needs. His collection includes stuff from Singing Together booklets produced years back by the BBC to accompany schools broadcasts. There ought to be some music you will know to be found there. Quack! Subject: Children's songs in Noteworthy or abc? From: Marje Date: 13 Dec 08 - 04:56 AM I'm trying to compile a file of tunes for my 5-year-old granddaughter to play on her recorder. The sort of tunes I'm looking for are the popular songs that primary school children in the UK know - the idea is that she'd learn to read the dots more easily if she starts with familiar tunes. I don't want hymns, although the odd Christmas carol might be fun. I'm using Noteworthy composer for this. I can type the tunes in myself if I have to, but I'd rather use any short cuts available if someone has done the homework already and the files are available on the internet. I can transpose to a suitable key if necessary. Alternatively, I can convert abc files to Noteworthy. I've tried the links on NWC's own website but not found very much that's suitable. Does anyone know of websites with collections of children's songs in abc or Noteworthy? Marje |
