Subject: RE: Sangsters@Edinburgh Folk Club 17/10/08 From: Johnny J Date: 15 Dec 08 - 06:37 AM I thought this band would have received much more attention on a "singy site" like this... Come on Tattie Bogle, let's hear from you. :-) |
Subject: Sangsters@Edinburgh Folk Club 17/10/08 From: Johnny J Date: 13 Dec 08 - 10:27 AM Hi all, End 2008 in style with one of Scotland's finest vocal(predominantly) groups. Many would argue they were "the best" at what they do and I'd find it hard to disagree. "Sangsters, from Fife, are an internationally recognized harmony band. The band members are Scott and Anne Murray (MBE), Fiona Forbes and John Blackwood. The band features quality singing and close harmonies with sympathetic guitar accompaniment and interpretation of Scots song. Traditional and Burns songs sit alongside contemporary songs, all wrapped in warm humor. The band records for Greentrax and their CDs Begin and Sharp and Sweet have both met with critical acclaim. Various tracks have been used for compilation albums. The band performs regularly in concert and at festivals and has appeared on radio, both recorded and live. " Venue: Pleasance Cabaret Bar - 8:00pm Admission: £7.00 (£6.00 concession), Members £5 Expect to hear fine songs, great vocals and harmonies, along with some splendidly coorse patter and humour. I'll defy anyone to leave the building with a dour face...... :-) I'll also defy anyone not to enjoy this wonderful singing group... even those "tuney types" like myself. Highly recommended. |
