There is a "Newark folk club" at the Mailcoach on Tuesdays. I have no more info (contact no.s etc.)but would like to know as I'm compiling a list of venues within about a 20 mile radius of Retford.

Thanks Rattler , but last info I had is that Tha Mailcoach club had closed ! DID get there a couple of times last year

Louth Folk Club have a singaround on Tuesday December 23rd 2008

Its changed venues since then Jacqui. You haven't been to this venue.

People make the place Les - and I liked the crowd I met there.

The venue was, as I remember it, a BIT cramped!

The old venue was cramped and the new venue is cramped but nicer than the last one.

The Wheatsheaf at Louth is a very pleasant pub , with a VERY pleasant Folk Club . Jacqui and I had a great time there with Sooz and co !

What a great place! I would definitely go back there again if I get the opportunity. We were made so welcome by the locals in a room that was filled to capacity.

There were some really good performers there, lots of good music and humour and a very generous landlord who provided quite a feast during the interval.

The evening was well worth the hour's drive from Newark and I must thank Terry for doing the driving this time.

It was a cracking night (I've just mentioned this on the "Why are folk clubs dying?" thread). Clubs in Lincolnshire are usually worth the drive!
