Subject: Classic YouTube Videos {1930s-1960s}
From: Azizi
Date: 27 Dec 08 - 09:32 AM

This thread provides an opportunity for you to share the links you've found to classic Youtube videos of singers and dancers from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and the 1960s.

The focus is on rare film footage, but collages such as album covers or other photographs of the vocalist/s or dancer/s are also welcome.

My interest in clips from films is partly because I like looking at the clothes and hair fashions, the street scenes, the dances, and other "memorabilia" from those "olden days",

I'll start the ball rolling with some links to videos that I like.

Thanks in advance for your participation in this thread!

Oh, thanks so much for these YouTube links. Those videos are real gems.

I have posted a few classics myself, from a forgotten 1967 Ampex recording of (American satirist) Tom Lehrer. Yes, I admit that it was an indiscrete stunt. Lehrer stopped performing in the sixties, and he was rarely on TV. The Ampex tape was preserved because of pure luck. Lehrer forgave me and he has made it legal to visit him on YouTube :-)

You're welcome, 6funswede. Here's your blue clicky:

http://www.youtube.com/6funswede

I neglected to note that people can post the URLs without the hyperlinks. However, here's how I make hyperlinks on Mudcat:

1. Once I've found the URL {by using Google or some other search engine}, I highlight it {run the mouse over it until it turns blue}

2. I then click on "Copy" {which is found in the Edit feature, right next to "File" on the top left hand side of the screen]

3. Then I click on "Make A Blue Clicky" that is found underneath this box on the right hand side]

4. Instructions will appear. I follow the instructions, which will tell me to paste the URL in the box that appears..."Paste" is found the same "Edit" feature as "Copy".

5. If you want to show the website's address, then hit "submit", and the hyperlink will appear. If you want to go with a word such as "here: or the title of the website you are linking to, or some other words or phrases, write that and then click "submit".

6. I usually check to see if it's working before going to the next step.

7.When you are ready to "Copy" the URL that appears at the end of the instruction steps, make sure that you copy the entire thing and don't miss the signs at the beginning and the end that look like greater and lesser mathmatical signs < and >. If you don't copy them, the hyperlink won't work.

8. Paste the hyperlink whereever you want it in your Mudcat post.

I hope these instructions help.

Best wishes,

Azizi

My apologies for that duplicate posting of the Johnny Lee Hooker video.

To make up for that mistake, here's a link to another Johnny Lee Hooker video:
