That's only because fiddlers are too cheap to pay for frets.

Very nice. Here's another fretless guitar on YouTube, though maybe not so nice. The modal focus remains, as does a vestigial modality (however obscured by the improvisatory process) though the main point is acoustic resonance rather than anything too folksy...
