My Arabic is almost nonexistent, so I am at a loss to understand this music video, from the website of a Baptist church in Rama, Galilee:

احسانك فاق الاوصاف - بداية جديدة

I would love to know what the lyrics say, how (if at all) they tie in with the reindeer-and-sleign set, etc.

If you see gobbledy-gook for text in the link, manually setting your browser's encoding to "Arabic (Windows)" will probably correct it, though now (unless you know the Arabic alphabet) it will look like chicken-scratches instead of swear words in Pig Latin.

Maybe now that we're away from the season someone will be able to help me on this? I know, I should ask the pastor, but...

That is such a cheesy video. I wish they'd had more close-ups of the reindeer!

In the absence of a proper Arabic to English translator, I'll try and get you a rough (and I mean rough!) translation done by tomorrow.

Haruo-

You might try posting this as a comment on Oldpoetry.com (click here!)

They are more accustomed to dealing with Arabic translations of songs and poems than here at Mudcat.

They say it's a daily test of the believers
We can trust in God, all the solutions are in his hands
He promises and delivers

I want the bare-footed one to bring me honey
He guides me through the sea of my circumstances and guarantees my arrival

Your kindness is extraordinary, your judgement fair and just
As long as God's my guiding light, I've no need to fear

And during the flux of the night my life becomes purified by the fire and I emerge a purer and greater person and your magnificence appears,
And after the night the tears that I cry grow into rivers

And in the twilight of the dawn my faith becomes proof
The sweet fragrance of happiness spreads
By the poison (?) of cure and treatment
And I forget that I'm afraid
And I forget that I'm injured
And the one who sees me sees Jesus within me

(It obviously doesn't rhyme in English - it does in Arabic!)

Nothing particularly Christmassy about it, though, so what's with the reindeer? Did they just film it at a Santa Claus Theme Park in Israel of all places, or what?
