Looking to replace my fiddle strings. Cannot decide which brand to go with. Now using Thomastick Superflexible. Other fiddlers recommending Old Fiddler, Prim, some even recommending a cheap chinese brand - I believe Hayina or something to that effect. Thoughts from all you fiddlers please. Thanks Jim

Here in the UK, I know old time fiddlers who use Thomastik Spirocore (including me) and others who use Prim. The main thing seems to be to use steel strings rather than those with perlon cores (like Dominant) because of the retuning required to play Old Time in different keys.
Generally, different fiddles are suited to different strings, so the best sound is one you have to seek out by trial and error IMHO.
Cheers
Ray

My old time fiddler friends debate strings passionately.

Not just brands but particular strings.

Most use different brands for different strings.
