Hi Guys

Can anyone help with the English lyrics of this Jose Feliciano song.

I believe it goes under the title Que Sara Que Sara Que Sara or Che Sera Che Sera Che Sera in Italian/Spanish.

I have a You Tube version Here but I do not think this is a true translation of the Italian Version especially. The gist I get from the Spanish / Italian versions is that it is a patriotic song lamenting the demise of the town or country

It's unclear what you are asking for. Do you want the English lyrics he is singing, or a translation of the Spanish? The Spanish is the story of the heartbreak an emigrant feels in leaving his hometown, especially when everyone else is leaving as well to go to disparate places. The Que Sera in this version has the sense of "what will become of me and my life?"

I don't have time to attempt a complete translation from the Spanish, but here is what he sings in Spanish:

Pueblo mio que estas en la colina
Tendido como un viejo que se muere
La pena el abandono
Son tu triste compañia
Pueblo mio te dejo sin alegria
Que sera que sera que sera
Que sera de mi vida que sera
Si se mucho o no se nada
Ya mañana se vera
Y sera sera lo que sera.

Ya mis amigos se fueron casi todos
Y los otros partiran despues que yo
Lo siento porque amaba su agradable compañia
Mas es mi vida tengo que marchar
Que sera que sera que sera
Que sera de mi vida que sera
En las noches mi guitarra
Dulcemente sonara y una niña
De mi pueblo llorara.

Amor mio me llevo tu sonrisa

Thanks Nerd - and apologies.

I'm firstly looking for the lyrics - in English please - of the song "Shake The Hand". The "You Tube" version is not clear in parts.

I was also querying if the "Shake The Hand" (English) lyrics are a true translation from the Italian/Spanish versions (Che Sara Che Sara Che Sara / Que Sera Que Sera Que Sera) or if it different lyrics "made to fit" the tune.

I have a friend who sings in it Italian and says he has heard an English version but it does not translate directly from his (Italian) version. I think the (English) version he is alluding to may well be "Shake the Hand".

Thanks again for the response

Finally managed to get the You Tube link to play and decipher the (English) words to "Shake the Hand"

Here they are - or my best attempt at them!!

-----------------------------------------

I don't believe I understand
You know I don't believe I understand
Why no one seems to love the child who'll give but won't demand
There's music playing there so join the band

Shake the hand, shake the hand, shake the hand.
Come on give out more than what they say you can
Put the pieces all together on a rock instead of sand
Help the man complete his plan, shake the hand.

I don't believe that peace won't really come
I don't believe that peace won't really come
When every single soul can say his work is really done
When life is one for all and all for one

Shake the hand, shake the hand, shake the hand.
Come on give out more than what they say you can
Put the pieces all together on a rock instead of sand
Help the man complete his plan, come shake the hand.

I don't believe there's any other way
I don't believe there's any other way
To light that darkened road that winds across another day
Except to make a stand and finally say

Shake the hand, shake the hand, shake the hand.
Come on give out more than what they say you can
Put the pieces all together on a rock instead of sand
Help the man complete his plan, come shake the hand.

-------------------------------------

Thanks again to Nerd for the earlier response. It clear that this is not a translation of Que Sara, Que Sara, Que Sara as sung by Jose Feliciano.

Cheers all

Wikipedia says this:
In 1971, [Feliciano] traveled to Italy to participate in the San Remo Music Festival, singing the song CHE SARÀ in Italian, earning second place in that contest as well as a standing ovation by the Italian public. He later recorded the song, which became a well-known act in Italy, a great hit in half of Europe, including the Iron Curtain countries, as well as in Asia. Feliciano later recorded it in Spanish as QUÉ SERÁ, becoming a hit in all of Central and South America, and in English as SHAKE A HAND, a big hit in Scandinavian countries.
Then I consulted BMI:

As near as I can figure, the original Italian song (CHE SARÀ) was written by Jimmy Fontana, Francesco Migliacci Jr, and Carlo Pes.

Then the Spanish lyrics (QUÉ SERÁ) were written by Michel Jourdan. (BMI also crdits Fontana, Migliacci, and Pes as co-songwriters).

Then the English lyrics (SHAKE A HAND) were written by Stephen Burnett. (BMI credits Fontana, Migliacci, and Pes, but omits Jourdan.)

By the way, note that the correct title of the English version is SHAKE A HAND, not SHAKE THE HAND.

Oddly, Allmusic.com doesn't list any recordings of this version of SHAKE A HAND, although it does list other songs with the same title, notably one by Joe Morris, and recorded by Faye Adams, Pat Boone, Red Foley, Little Richard, Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, Johnnie Ray, Ike & Tina Turner, Jackie Wilson, and others.

Yes true, I've the single 45rpm and title is "Shake a Hand", recorded by Jose Feliciano in 1971 in same music back of the italian and spanish versions of that (Che Sarà and Que Serà)
