Alie is that you from Blackmore? I was hoping to be getting there but chris is not too well at the moment so I doubt it, really disappointed but 'c'est la vie' - hope all is well with you, was it Banbury a few years ago that I bumped into you?

Well I'm certainly going as one of "Dave's mob"! I'm in charge of singarounds and sessions and I'm doing my best to make sure there are some all the time. Accoustics in the Bridge Loft are great (Though we have to work round a central chimney breast!) We're all working hard but we need you guys to come and make it what YOU want it to be

Well I'm willing to be the anything covered in chocolate! Beats mud any day.

The programmes are finished and being printed as we speak. I'm pleased and impressed by them...reading through makes me want to go to it and I already am!

We started this a bit later than was wise and it's our first time, but if all goes well it should be good and even better next time as we will have more time to organise and have learnt lots from this one. What we need is for people to come and make it what they want it to be for the future. Constructive feedback is vital to us so please let us know what you think.

Now all that remains is to pray for good weather!!

Love Lynne

Lynne,

For singaround/sessions type activities, are there going to be suggested allocations of areas for, for example, singaround, English tunes, Irish or is it just a case of seeing who turns up?

Subject: RE: A New Folk Festival at Moira.
From: MBSLynne

I've kind of aimed it so that the sessions in the two pubs are a faster tune session in one and a moderate paced tunes in the other but it does depend who turns up at them. The singarounds in the Loft are all different and programmed and, apart from the Middle Bar sing, can be songs and tunes. There is probably room in the small marquee at some times for another singaround if anyone wants it. This year it's a case of seeing what people really want. I'm open to suggestions and will try and accomodate whatever anyone asks for

I just bottled some sloe gin from last year's sloes (a bit late I know but none the worse for that). So I will chop the sloes, mix them with chocolate and bring them to the Mudgather!

Just the thing for the Sloe session. Or the fast one if you want to get drunk fast.

A good idea, tell us how it works out. Joy is not confident enough yet so a slow session would suit her - but we are busy this year.

I know an excelent fiddler called Moira who would probably go just for the name.

Friday evening there will only be a session in one of the pubs ("The Railway"). "The Woodman" has booked a band! Both pubs will have sessions from 12 to 11 Saturday and from 12 to whenever on Sunday

We hope to arrive around lunchtime on Friday. We'll be down loaded with chocolate for the Mudgather...but don't tell Hils, she'll snaffle the lot if she finds out!

Hils, Ted says the Woodman has Pedigree and a selection, the Railway has Bass, otherwise he's not sure except that they are all real ales. Don't know what beers are in the beer wagon on site except people were asking for particular real ales and he was going to accomodate them. I asked for proper cider, plus there will be a couple of barrels of Thatchers in the Loft for people who make a 'donation'

Hils, the Mudgather is from 4 to 7 on Saturday if that's ok. Sorry it's not shown on the website, I have been remiss in not checking it properly. I've hopefully now got it sorted and all the singarounds should show on the site. There is a little room for overflow at the end if necessary because the next Loft session doesn't start until 8.

That's good Acorn! Didn't manage to catch it. We're also in several local papers.

We're thinking of leaving the caravan somewhere near Warwick on the Sunday so that we can pick it up for Shrewsbury the following weekend instead of dragging it to & from Surrey again. Anyone have any suggestions for possible campsites where we could just store it for 5 nights?

We have festival T-shirts available to order. We didn't want to buy a load and be left with some on our hands so thought it was better to let people order the sizes they want etc. They are £10 and have the furnace logo on them...bright and cheerful. Don't know if it's possible to get any more before the festival but if you want some let me know quickly and we can try

Karen wants to bring her Hovercraft ( it's a big,hairy,German guard-dog) with her now----I hope it's a dog-friendly campsite ! --??
PS....I call it a Hovercraft, a la Mrs Malaprop, but I believe that it may ,actually,be called something else .

The campsite is a big flat area with plenty of space for pooch exercise, but there is a kiddies playground which will obviously be out of bounds.

I hope no-one minds but I've changed the MudGather times slightly, finish is now 6.30pm, not 7pm, but obviously if you all wish to carry on I'll hand over the Cat to you! Chocolate at the ready......

Lets hope the weather holds, safe journeys everyone!

Hey ho, I've only just happened on this thread - having in the past checked out threads labelled "new folk festival" they usually turned out to be somewhere distant, not even in the uk, or in the states or the antipodes, so I'd not clocked this one yet.

My loss tho', for it looks like a good 'un, just what I'd need after what's been a real dismal year so far.

But sadly I'm committed to sorting out life stuff all weekend and almost certainly won't be able to make it down.

Whatever, I hope it all goes really well.
Pl tender my apologies to the Gather, Hils.

MM

(Lynne - ok if I PM you afterwards and see about getting involved next year if I'm still around?)
