For the avoidance of any confusion (especially among Mudcatters who haven't met him, but just in case I misinterpreted the dialect in the thread title), the thread has, I think, been started by this Sid

Those of us who have met him thoroughly recommend that the rest of you do....

Sid, that's a wonderful site of yours. Its good to see that you've put some hard work into reviving the northern Dialect Societies as they have done a lot of valuable and interesting research which deserves more recognition.
In the meantime I wonder whether the collapse of the Mudcat website might be attributed to its inabilty to cope with the vagaries of the noble tongue, but perhaps I shouldn't go down that road/alley/wiend....
