Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Zakir Hussain (he plays tabla) are performing their concerto this weekend with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I'm going. Has anyone heard this piece? Fleck, Meyer and Hussain performed it with the St. Louis Symphony a few years ago. Leonard Slatkin, then conductor of the St. Louis Symphony, is now conducting in Detroit.

I found a Youtube of the St Louis performance.

St Louis

I wish I could go see it live.

I would strongly suggest that anyone having the chance not pass it up.

Baldie, it's a shame that the sound on that video is so low. I'd have loved to listen to it if it were really audible.

Yeah the beginning especially is very soft. I had to turn everything up all the way. It is pretty good quality sound for a youtube if you get it up to a decent volume.

You might want to check settings. My machine has about 4 different places to set it, and I had to turn them all to max. Just make sure you turn them back before you click on your favorite heavy metal video. LOL

I still wish I could go see it live, unfortunately they aren't bringing any of this type of show to the middle of Kansas.

I have to travel 150-200 miles to see the Flecktones, and Bela rarely brings the bluegrass or other projects even that close.

I wanted to see the Sparrow Quartet project with Abigail Washburn, but 500 miles is quite a trip to see a show.
