Subject: RE: Sussex All Day Singaround From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Jan 09 - 03:00 AM Much as I would love to be there, unless I finish this fence today (and as my help never turned up yesterday and the handle on my pickaxe broke, it seems unlikely), I'll be busy erecting on Saturday... :( LTS |

Subject: RE: Sussex All Day Singaround From: TheSnail Date: 18 Jan 09 - 05:47 PM And they were! along with a great many others. I think about sixty at any one time; probably a hundred over the whole day with people who came and went. A good time had by all. I even sang myself, which is a (thankfully) rare thing. Thanks to Dave Earl and Elizabeth, Steve and Diane Nevill, and Valmai Goodyear (and me) for running their sections of the day and Pete Collins for MCing the evening including the final chorus songs. Special thanks for Lynne and Pat and Mary and Liz for their splendid performance (with actions) of I Must Increase My Bust. And thank you to Sandra for turning up despite having become a grandmother for the second time a few days before. |

Subject: RE: Sussex All Day Singaround From: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS Date: 19 Jan 09 - 02:55 PM Yes thank you all from across the bridge in foreign parts. I had a lovely time, even though I had to sit still and quiet for most of the day. Lots of wonderful singers. I also enjoyed the tune sesh on Sunday at the Elephant and Castle. I don't often get to play English tunes and I love 'em! The sun shone too - as soon as we crossed the Severn bridge it rained. I told you it would! |

Subject: RE: Sussex All Day Singaround From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 20 Jan 09 - 08:46 AM Thanks, everybody, for making it another terrific day. Same again next year! And another tunes session on the Sunday, too. Pattie mentions the Elephant & Castle, the new home of the Lewes Saturday Folk Club. We have an excellent new room there: it's been enlarged and the acoustics are superb. It will be big enough for dancing and all sorts of interesting activities. There's a real fireplace - perhaps we can manage a Halloween evening by firelight and candlelight. Come on Saturday 24th. to hear the redoubtable John Morgan.... and every Saturday after that ......... Valmai (Lewes) |
