Big Mick - I can testify that yes he does - why do you think he's in a room on his own.

Still there again this evening. I'll visit tomorrow if I get chance and ask what is going on.

The cat is fine, well fed, litter tray replenished and didn't hiss at me today... progress I feel.

Interesting fact. When I type 'loo' into my mobile the predictive text gives 'jon'. Sort of right really.

Well, he's just being a social butterfly via his cell phone in the loo. I also spoke with him this morning (his afternoon) and he did, indeed, sound quite chipper.

Spaw, I hate to tell you, but he asked me to pass this along to you:

He wouldn't touch your *candle* with a ten-foot pole!

Just in from 3 days of concerts for college students and Irish American Societies, and find this?????? You are not shitting me any, Patterson. You went on Facebook, found that Lane, Fielding, Patterson and Swan, Layabouts at Large and for hire was accepting (for the first time in its history) associate members, so you decide to rack up some hours. Shameful, lad, simply shameful. There are others that have trying for years .... so this is but a weak attempt to jumpstart your app. But the no cider thing is problematic, as drinking the clients booze is a big part of all this. Tell me, lad, are you able to let loose air biscuits? Can't be a layabout if you can't let the occasional "poot" into the room atmosphere. We are a new age group of layabouts and believe and practice the ancient art of aromatherapy.

Listen, I have to handle this delicately, but if you decide that it is time to "getaway", could you make sure someone knows that I would like my Folk Legacy hat back??? Thanks. (you sneaky wee man...... I still laugh when I think of the look on your face when you pulled that one...)

BTW ....... I've seen the "candle" during your infamous walk to the shower in the co-ed dorm at Getaway. Spaw...... unless you have a problem that defies medical description, you might want to stay out of this one......   LOL.

Get better, my good friend. I have the candles lit and you are square in the middle of my reflections and prayers.

Much Love,

Mick

Well, I just spoke to him, and he is in good spirits. He does say that he might have to learn to "drink" wine by the taste and spit out method, if his "awfully good friends" go through with their threat promise to reduce his stress level by removing all of the booze.

No news other than he had the test and no-one has told him anything other than 'it's working'... I presume they mean his heart, rather than anything else. Most of that stopped working years ago. He may well be in another night.

Talking of patients.. he's had an ECG today, I'm just waiting for him to get back to me with the results - like whether he's getting kicked out tonight or if they're going to start charging rent.

Acting on information received, I understand the purple ones are not latex - they are the ones for people allergic to latex. As it's a fairly serious condition if you're in and out of rubber gloves all day, the hypoallergenic ones are more common now, to prevent accidental contamination.

I prefer them too, such a lovely shade.

I've just posted up to the other thread, but the gist is:

Although the P45 came today, I still have the gloves and I know how to (legally) use them! Hell, what else would I do with about 4 doz pairs of latex gloves?!

C'mon, you old bugger, behave yourself, grimace and take the medicine, and then get yourself out of there asap!

Returning from our visit to Micca the man was in good spirit, no not that one !!!
Best hospital to be in though , better than anyone else gets ?
Im a tad worried about the booze removal from his home though as he accepts not drinking for now ,and some wines should not be moved !
How can he give visitors a drink after the escape?
Quote of the day from Micca "If I come to yours I will bring a bottle of Port and not drink it but you will"

I had combined them, early on, but then the second one got started, so I figured there was a good reason for that and decided to leave them alone. Now, they've both become a bit long too combine, easily. Besides that, twice-said, twice mended, eh?:-)

Well, the Ancient old Scroat seems quite relaxed about his stay in the hospital and is letting the professionals get on with their jobs. He's looking forward to further tests tomorrow & is hoping to go home asap. He's talking about walking a bit more to get a bit fitter so he's definitely taking this seriously!!

He was delighted to receive the printed threads & will be reading them now I'm sure. They haven't got him sorted with an internet connection yet, but he's hopeful!

He's under the impression that the 'alchohol-free' meds may only be for a year and he assured me that he could wait a year for a good Rioja. Did you girls leave him any????

Why do I keep noticing the line "fine spirits" in this thread? Are his fine spirits due to an outside source of fine spirits? ............Hmmmmm...................No, no, of course not. Micca wouldn't have any of that kind of craving..............No, must be something else.

He's like a little school kids sneaking off for a smoke in the loo, only it's to make his phone calls.*bg* I also spoke to him at almost midnight his time. I"ll tell you when I worked as an aide in hospital none of my patients were up and out of bed at that time of the night!

He did sound much better today, than yesterday and yes, he is very bored, but seems to be trying to make the best of it. I don't think Monday can come too soon, though.

Sa him this afternoon and felt he was in remarkably fine spirits considering his incarcaration.....having said that,I witnessed one or two remakably pretty young nurses and have been given to understand that the physio is pretty damn hot also.

All in all, I shouldn't worry that he is suffering unduly.

Thanks for the coffee, Liz, that was a long and tedious drive home but we managed to stay awake thanks to St.Caffeine.

Morti and I have had a discussion and feel it is in his best interests to clear the house of all alcoholic beverages before he gets home so he is no longer tempted.

Where did he say the Rioja was?

We will of course, find a good home for it all until he is given the 'all clear' to indulge again.

Well, I've just had a long chat with the old scrote tonight, and he's in fine form. He's been passed through the bowels of an MRI scanner and not broken it, he's had nurses taking blood samples at unholy hours of the day and night and, worst of all, he's been forced to eat hospital food.
But, despite all that, he's the same loveable loon we know and love. The only probem is, the poor bugger's bored out of his box, and no wonder. I fear that the Newham hospital may yet rue the day they admitted him!
He's awaiting the results of a battery of tests (I don't think there's an organ they haven't yet probed, jabbed or bled), but in a perfect world he'll be out ere long. And, what's more, there's a rather large incentive for him to get off the pills and back to normal, in the form of some really rather exceptional Rioja.

He's still there Nurse Ratched, at least until Monday...

Anyone visiting is welcome to drop in here for a cup of tea/coffee/gin...

It's best (and cheaper) not to park in the hospital grounds but in one of the streets nearby. Don't use the Glenn St entrance near Prince Regent's Lane, you'll have to walk the length of the hospital. Park in Lonsdale Ave, New City or Boundary Road and enjoy a short walk over the Northern Outfall Sewer or as it's more fetchingly called - the Greenway.

Damn! He escaped that hospital before i could arrive with my healthful anti-stroke regime:

1. First, beat with a large paddle (punishment for High Living)

2. Chilli colonic delivered with fire hose.

3. Brain-clearing anti-alcohol remedy:

1/2 cup mineral water mixed with juice of 10 raw chillis, ginger and coriander tonic, grapefruit exctract and crushed pepper - swallow half, snort the rest through nose and take a vigorous walk.

LtS - can you administer quickly?

Because all of the trousers I've ever seen had only one fly, I keep having these images, from an old movie, of Count Dracula's demented helper, in a jail cell in London, catching and eating flies, only someone has caught them all and is stitching them together with a needle and thread and I have a feeling of amazement that anyone would want to do such a thing! I hope I'm not picking up on some awful drug-induced dreams of Micca's!**BG**

Linda - I'm given to understand that the 'easy access' is to facilitate correct procedure by those whose hands are otherwise occupied with an IV line or walking aids... sewing them up would defeat the object of the excercise.

He called me as I was filling up my car with gas (petrol). I told him that's what I was doing. He mentioned something about calling from the loo as it had better cellphone reception, then made some rude comment about us both being gaseous.:-)

Horror of Horrors, they played pop music for twenty minutes while he was in the MRI! As he hates it, it seems fortuitous that he survived such torture. Thankfully, as LtS said, manitas was by and brought him some classical music to listen to. He is VERY bored.

All the experts had gone before there was time to do the echo, today, so it seems he has to be in the weekend to wait for them to return and also, I think, so they may keep a close eye on him. (He actually thinks that, too, from what he said.)

Liz, thanks for keeping us up to date and also for being there for him and Wugsie. I know how much he is missing her and how much she must be missing him. I hated being away from my cats, in hospital. It is a great comfort to know someone we can trust takes care of them.
