My first time at this site and I didn't know how to say thanks for helping me with the lyrics and for turning me on the the great Guy Clark site. thanks darkriver and Barbara too. How do I now delete this thread that I created?

You don't. It's here forever. Normally, I would just say thank them in the appropriate thread, but there's no rule that says you can't do it this way. At any rate, welcome to the Mudcat. May this be just the first of many, many visits for you. Soon it will be just like another home to you. Guaranteed.

Does anyone use email addresses here or just a nickname?

Usually nick names,

once you register (a good idea and it's free) we can access your email if you have given permission and either email or send a personal message to you.

Just a nickname is fine, and if you join you can also ship private personal messages to other members. Welcome!
Blessings,
Barbara

Well, I'm still around, so I'll answer. There is a wide variation in that. Some use their correct and full names (as I do) some just use first names, some nicknames, some email as you are. I suspect that there might be a few alias as well. No rules on how to do it. That is one of the nice things here, an almost total lack of rules ~~ though it does sometimes cause a bit of contention. Max (who runs the site) and Dick and Susan who are mostly responsible for what goes into the song database seldom interfere in what a person has to say or how they do it. Just be careful with your html ~~ don't use it in thread names, for example. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. Be polite to visitors who ask for heavy metal lyrics ~~ though you might not want to. Start a new thread for every song you ask about, rather than sticking three or four requests in a generic thread entitled Desperate! Need Lyrics! Help someone whenever you can. That's about it.

Well picker welcome to the 'Cat. Have fun, ask questions and respond to as many threads as you like. Take some time to research a few old threads too in the forum search. You'll also get to know some of us better...and us you. This is a great place, truly a little village in cyberland and you'll be meeting lots of knowledgable, intelligent, friendly folks like Barbara and Dale and many others. Enjoy.

Night Owl - a Forum search with Nose Hair in the subject will find it. I found it was just called "Nose Hair!"

Welcome aboard Picker, I was going to ask 'Guitar, Banjo or Nose' but I guess Night Owl beat me to it.

Bert.

Proud to have you with us, picker. You won't see my handle much in these threads, but I'm usually lurking around in the background. It's a great place to be, and we'll try to help in any way we can.

Hi Bert, It's really guitar but I couldn't really argue with Night Owl either and on some days a good honk from the nose sounds better than my ax.
