Subject: Lyr Req: my mind it was fixed on freedom From: chazkratz Date: 21 Jan 09 - 06:36 PM I can't find this in the DT and there was little help from Google (I did find a probable source: ("I Woke Up this Morning with My Mind Stuck on Jesus") I have a vague memory of this song being sung at a freedom rally, whether live or on TV I can't recall. The lyric as I recall consisted of the first verse going "I woke up this morning with my mind, my mind it was fixed on freedom (3X) followed by a series of "halleloo"s. That's about all I've got. It was during the pre-inauguration celebration Monday night that I thought of it...and even before Pete appeared looking and sounding great. Charles |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: my mind it was fixed on freedom From: Joe Offer Date: 21 Jan 09 - 09:01 PM Hi, Charles - Long time, no see, old friend. You'll find information on the song in this "Gospel roots" thread (click), although I think Masato may have transcribed the lyrics wrong from the Weavers recording - I thing it's "with my mind, it was stayed on freedom." Also note the thread in the crosslinks above. -Joe- |
