I can't find this in the DT and there was little help from Google (I did find a probable source: ("I Woke Up this Morning with My Mind Stuck on Jesus")

I have a vague memory of this song being sung at a freedom rally, whether live or on TV I can't recall. The lyric as I recall consisted of the first verse going "I woke up this morning with my mind, my mind it was fixed on freedom (3X) followed by a series of "halleloo"s.

That's about all I've got. It was during the pre-inauguration celebration Monday night that I thought of it...and even before Pete appeared looking and sounding great.

Charles

Not very good on links, but I put "my mind it was" into the search box and it came up with a version. In a thread, not in the Digitrad bit.

Hi, Charles -
Long time, no see, old friend.
You'll find information on the song in this "Gospel roots" thread (click), although I think Masato may have transcribed the lyrics wrong from the Weavers recording - I thing it's "with my mind, it was stayed on freedom."
Also note the thread in the crosslinks above.

'Stayed' it is. I have put the 'Sing Out! lyrics and notes in the "Gospel roots" thread. The song is credited to Rev. Osby of Aurora, IL (addl. lyrics Robert Zellner).
