Subject: RE: Worlds of Trad Upload Jan 2009 From: Fred McCormick Date: 13 Jan 10 - 10:51 AM Sorry folks. This thread was reactivated by somebody saying they'd listened to Worlds of Trad, liked it and would be back for more. For reasons which I can only surmise, that posting has been removed. Anyway, to avoid confusion, the second posting was my reply to POS. |
Subject: RE: Worlds of Trad Upload Jan 2009 From: Fred McCormick Date: 13 Jan 10 - 10:16 AM Hi POS, Glad you like the programme. I should point out though that the list above is from January 2009, not the current (December 2009) one. For anyone who's waiting with bated breath for the Jan 2010 edition, I've been down with the lurgy of late, so I'm a little delayed. However, I'm hoping I'll be able to get it together for the back end of next week. Watch Mudcat for further developments. |
Subject: Worlds of Trad Upload Jan 2009 From: Fred McCormick Date: 22 Jan 09 - 08:41 AM Hi folks. Just to let everyone know that the January 2009 edition of Worlds of Trad Internet Radio has been successfully uploaded and will be on-line for your personal delectation until Wednesday February 18th 2009. This month sees Gus Cannon, Sam Larner, The Black Ace, Howling Wolf and Dillard Chandler sounding off about paramours and back door men; The Adairs, The Skillet Lickers, Elizabeth Cronin and Leon's Lonestar Cowboys warn us about some of the hard cases you'll want to avoid; There's a couple of tunes from master Northumbrian piper, Chris Ormston; Lightnin' Hopkins, Chris Barber's Jazz Band with Ottilie Patterson, and Memphis Minnie put the family jalopy to good use; And there's a couple of tracks from the legendary Topic LP, The Bird in the Bush. Roosevelt Sykes and Mac Duncan give us the low down on red lights, Buckingham Palace and New Orleans jazz; Josh White and Sarah Makem share a sob or two; There's some rattling good percussion from Vietnam and the Georgia Sea Islands; Woody Guthrie tells Alan Lomax why he's got it in the for the bankers; And the Worlds of Trad magic carpet checks in at Italy, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Tibet, Spain and various places in Britain and Ireland. All that plus the usual suspects. And if I can tone down the joviality for a minute, there's a fond memory of Betty Campbell, who died just a couple of weeks ago; we've another track from The Agape Childrens' Choir CD, which raises funds for the South African Agape Orphanage; and there's a tribute to the children who've been dying in the Israeli/Hamas conflict. This world might be a cruel old place, but at least we've got music to remind us we're human.
