Subject: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: EBarnacle Date: 27 Jan 09 - 07:44 PM Well, she's done it! Sarah has created a PAC to raise money for a run in 2012. It's so nice that we will have someone to laugh at for the next few grim years. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: bobad Date: 27 Jan 09 - 07:47 PM She just doesn't get it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Riginslinger Date: 27 Jan 09 - 07:48 PM I read where she's coming out with a book, too. It won't be long and she'll be just as rich as all the other idiots who run for public office. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jan 09 - 08:37 PM Do not underestimate this woman. She is very shrewd and very eager for power. Palin learned a lot over these past few months. Trying to imagine the elegant Mrs. Obama being followed by the Alaskan shrew. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jan 09 - 08:38 PM Is she running for president this time or VP or Senator? Will baby bush II be her running mate? They do have lots of guns in Alaska... |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: maple_leaf_boy Date: 27 Jan 09 - 10:14 PM It's polar shifts. The "world" that we know is going to end, and a new one is going to begin. But, the world is not going to end-end. The Earth's rotation is going to change, and our North and South Poles will be in different places. This will cause climate changes to occur. The worry is that if the polar shift occurs too quickly. This is based on the beliefs of some South-western U.S. Native peoples, according to a documentary that I once watched. They believe that the world began four times, and has ended three times. Once the polar shifts occur, then metaphorically the world has ended, and a new one has began. A new world with a new North and South Pole. It is expected to happen three years from now, or at least not far from it. The world won't literally end for another 3 billion years, unless the Sun should burn out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Alice Date: 27 Jan 09 - 10:19 PM 2012 doomsday is a hoax. Palin's ego, unfortunately, is real, as in really big. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Ebbie Date: 28 Jan 09 - 12:30 AM Somebody likes Palin. Look at this: From Shoefly to Flying Shoe (Shoefly is a local shoe store) |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jan 09 - 12:32 AM I'm curious, Maple Leaf Boy...are you talking about a magnetic pole shift or a physical shift of the planet on its axis? The first would be a subtle event, not perceptible to ordinary human senses, but detectable with scientific equipment. The second would be a worldwide catastrophe. And if it's a magnetic shift you are referring to, would that also be accompanied by a reversal of the Earth's direction of rotation on its axis? (in which case the sun would then rise in the west) Just curious which particular theory you are referring to, that's all...not expressing any opinion about it one way or another. No one has any way of knowing if the various predictions and prophecies about 2012 are "a hoax" (or just merely incorrect) or not. I won't be surprised if nothing unusual happens in 2012. I won't be totally astounded if something unusual does happen. Why? Because I have no basis of being 100% sure on either possibility, so why should I pretend (as so many do) that I do have such a basis? I don't know. So I'll wait and see. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Alice Date: 28 Jan 09 - 01:03 AM Of course it can be stated that it is a hoax - NASA astrobiologist has pointed out that the 2012 "galaxy alignment" is an internet hoax. ask an astrobiologist at NASA "... I can't explain it because it is just an Internet hoax. There is no alignment with the center of the Galaxy in 2012 or any time." |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jan 09 - 01:35 AM It depends on which particular 2012 prediction (or prophecy) you are referring to, Alice. There are many different ones. Many have to do with various ancient Amerindian traditional stories from North and South America, as well as other ancient cultural tales. Many have to do with a polar shift of some kind and/or a reversal of the Earth's direction of rotation on its axis. I don't think I have ever heard of the "galaxy alignment" story before. If someone concocted that one with deliberate intention to deceive people, then of course it's a hoax. If not, if they are sincere about it and they believe it for some reason, then it's not a hoax...they are (I would think) simply in error. The word "hoax" means a deliberate attempt to deceive. People are often wrong in their predictions of future events, but they're not trying to deceive anyone if they actually believe what they're saying, in which case...it's not a hoax. It's just wrong, period. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Bobert Date: 28 Jan 09 - 08:07 AM Well, I'm all for Ms. Sarah runnin' for Prez in '12... Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: EBarnacle Date: 28 Jan 09 - 11:08 AM The idea of Palin writing her own autobiography is ludicrous. If it is true, then she will have to come across much more lucidly in print than in vive voce. Of course, she will have plenty of time, as her current job is apparently not very demanding. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Don Firth Date: 28 Jan 09 - 02:46 PM The geological record shows that the earth's magnetic poles do shift from time to time. Different polarity of iron molecules in different strata. As Little Hawk says, it can be measured with scientific instruments (and it would throw our current compasses off until we adjust navigation to the where, geographically, the new North Pole is, and it may confuse migratory birds and monarch butterflies for awhile), but thee and me will not even notice the shift. What kind of physical forces are there in this neighborhood of our galaxy that would cause a planet which is approximately 8,000 miles in diameter with a mass of 5.9742 × 1024 kilograms to suddenly stop and begin rotating the other way, or cause it to flip over, pole to pole? 'Course, such a catastrophe might be preferable to having Sarah Palin as president. . . . Don Firth |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: VirginiaTam Date: 28 Jan 09 - 03:04 PM I wanna know who all the numbnutz were that bid on that shoe auction. We can refer them to Q's lottery win thread. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jan 09 - 03:41 PM The question remains, Don...what causes the Earth's manetic pole to periodically reverse itself? And that's an intriguing question. For instance, an electric motor has polarity with a north and south pole, achieved by rotating a coil around an armature (have I got those technical terms right?). At any rate...the only way you can reverse the polarity on an electric motor is to have it rotate in the opposite direction...or you can rotate it in the opposite direction by a toggle switch which causes a source of electrical power to flow the other way. Interesting, eh? Perhaps the planet Earth works in a similar fashion. It is said to have an iron core, and the rotation of the planet around that iron core may be exactly what produces the Earth's magnetic field. If so, the direction of rotation would be what determines the polarity of the field, and the magnetic field would collapse to zero if, for instance, the planet stopped rotating...while it would simply drop in amplitude some if the planet were to slow its rotation a bit. I have no ironclad opinion about any of this, because I don't know. I'm just speculating on what I find an interesting subject. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: katlaughing Date: 28 Jan 09 - 06:18 PM Ebbie, they wouldn't necessarily have to like her. Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jan 09 - 07:23 PM A hoax in what sense, McGrath? |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Don Firth Date: 28 Jan 09 - 07:30 PM "An inner core of solid iron is surrounded by an outer core of molten iron. They rotate at different rates, and the interaction between the regions creates what scientists call a 'hydromagnetic dynamo.'" From this web site: Interesting stuff. According to this, the shift of the magnetic poles doesn't happen overnight as some folks contend, not is it cataclysmic, as the "let's all panic!!" folks love so much, it "migrates" over a period of possibly thousands of years. Don Firth |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: frogprince Date: 28 Jan 09 - 07:43 PM Ahh...Don....? |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Don Firth Date: 28 Jan 09 - 07:59 PM Sorry about drifting the thread, frogprince, it's just that I find the earth's inner core far more magnetic than Sarah Palin. Vote NO on asteroid collisions, nearby supernovae, gamma ray bursters, Sarah Palin for president, and all other major cataclysms. Don Firth |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 28 Jan 09 - 08:30 PM Put together in some dirty tricks section of the Democrat Party perhaps, with a view to wrecking McCain's chances, and going on to destroy the Republicans... In an age of Conspiracy Theories it must be worth running that one up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jan 09 - 11:08 PM Most of the things that happen in the world of politics (and business) (and high finance) are accomplished by more than one person...by a group of people working together toward a common purpose, and they usually don't openly tell everyone else exactly what they're doing! That being the case, it's not a bit surprising that we have a lot of conspiracy theories, because we have a lot of conspiracies to theorize about. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 28 Jan 09 - 11:31 PM If Governor Palen tries a run for President in 2012, she'll find that some of her Republican primary opponents (some of the same folks who were so fully supportive of VP candidate Palen) will be more than ready to point out the same weaknesses and lack of qualifications that Democrats were pointing out a few months ago. It's one thing to have the other party saying you're unqualified. It's quite another to have high-ranking members of your own party saying it. She hasn't had that experience yet because she hasn't participated in the national primaries. Guys like Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani would chew her a new anal opening without giving it a second thought. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Musket Date: 30 Jan 09 - 07:14 AM Occasionally, here in the UK, we get a politician who has character. Whether they are very good, very bad or a downright liability, they are that rare thing, interesting. Boris Johnson, the mayor of London is a good example. Sarah Palin may have caused some concern, and as the American leadership has more affect on the rest of the world than any other country leaders, we kept a close eye too. But just so long as she had no opportunity to actually go to Washington, the stories about her and even watching her in action was light relief and made the election something to watch. Perhaps a novelty item, and to be frank, she was not a good advert for The USA. But I hope she is around for the next one. Comics need people like her! |
Subject: RE: BS: Sarah Palin's at it again From: Ron Davies Date: 30 Jan 09 - 08:18 AM It's nice to know, that as a poster on another forum noted, we won't need a PAC to defeat her. All we'll need is Palin herself--and Tina Fey. |
