Subject: RE: Peter Case has emergency heart surgery From: NormanD Date: 31 Jan 09 - 12:59 PM That is bad news. I have seen Peter Case several times in the UK, and he is a wonderful writer and performer, and the greatest singer that most people have never heard of. I do wish him well, and a good recovery. Please keep us updated, if possible, thanks. |

Subject: Peter Case has emergency heart surgery From: evansakes Date: 30 Jan 09 - 03:57 AM Three-times-Grammy-nominated Case was all set to return to the UK for a series of February dates when he was suddenly taken seriously ill in Los Angeles last week. He subsequently underwent double heart by-pass surgery and the latest report is that he's making a good recovery. However he obviously won't be in a position to work for at least a couple of months so unfortunately the forthcoming tour won't now take place. However the dates have being taken over by Californian singer-songwriter Crosby Tyler who has worked extensively with Case in the last year (indeed his latest album is produced by Case) and is seen as his latest protegé. Tyler will be donating half of the proceeds of the upcoming tour to help meet the extensive costs of Case's medical treatment. So British Americana fans will now get the chance to sample one of the newest names on the circuit making his UK debut and simultaneously they will be rallying to help Peter Case. The pair had originally met at a guitar shop in Santa Monica where Case had been immediately struck by the high calibre of the newcomer's songs. He called on some of the top sessions players on the scene to help with the recording and the album "10 Songs of America Today" which since it's release late last year has been winning rave reviews. The CD is currently sitting at number 16 on the Euro Americana Chart. Most of the individual promoters at the UK venues have agreed to honour the original dates with Tyler replacing Case and it is anticipated that there will be Peter Case merchandise on sale too in addition to fundraising raffles. At TwickFolk we had already lined up a great artist (Sarah McQuaid) to open for Peter Case on Feb 22nd and the event will now be run as a double header between Sarah and Crosby Tyler with advance tickets reduced to £8. We are naturally offering a full point-of-sale refund to all people who have purchased tickets for the original Case/McQuaid date . As an alternative we are happy for these tickets to be used against the rearranged McQuaid/Tyler date and refund the £2 difference on entry (or in the form of fundraising raffle tickets). This is Peter Case's own verdict on Crosby Tyler..."It's like William Burroughs leading a campfire sing-a-long".
