Subject: RE: Origins: All Right When the Mist Clears Away From: GUEST,Todd Date: 06 Feb 09 - 02:03 PM I too have been scouring the net looking for info on the writer for this song. My search led me to this thread. I remember also hearing it performed on Mt. Stage live, I remember recording it and listening to it enough to be able to play it but the last time I tried to find the tape it was missing :( . I believe you may be right that it was Larry singing it but I can't be certain. I remember just a couple of the lines a bit differently. In the first verse I think it might be "on the road as I drove through the town" In the second verse I remember it as "That man he was a pitiful sight" instead of beautiful and "God I hope you win some" Again this was many many years ago and the ol' memory may not be what it used to. This is such a wonderful song, and everyone I've sung it for says the same. Just wish I could give credit where it's due! |
Subject: RE: Origins: All Right When the Mist Clears Away From: Dan Schatz Date: 06 Feb 09 - 10:54 AM Thanks Joe, I'm thinking that must be the one! I'm guessing the song must be written by Larry Groce, then. These lyrics are from memory; I haven't gone back to the source recording for over a decade and and I'm kind of set in my ways about the song now. That happens to me a lot. When the Mist Clears Away by Larry Groce (we think) The other morning just past the sunrise When the mist was on the hills and all around I saw a beautiful gray haired woman And I rolled as I drove into town. Well I pulled over and I asked her If I could give her a lift upon her way. She said, "No thank you, I'm almost home now - I'll be all right when the mist clears away." Chorus: Just let the sunlight break through the darkness And the night send a beautiful day. Don't let your shadow turn into mountains - You'll be all right when the mist clears away. The other evening long past the sundown When the neon lights were flashing in the night I saw a young man sit on a doorstep - That man was a beautiful sight. His eyes were bloodshot; his hands were trembling; I hesitated as I thought I heard him say, "I know you lose some; you got to hope you win some You'll be all right when the mist clears away." Now I've been lonely and I've been angry Sometimes I don't know just which way to turn. And I've been lazy and I've been jealous Sometimes, you know, I think I'll never learn. But deep inside me if I listen There's a tiny voice that only seems to say Don't be mistaken - you're not forsaken You'll be all right when the mist clears away. Dan |
Subject: RE: Origins: All Right When the Mist Clears Away From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Feb 09 - 03:50 AM I found a little bit, Dan - it's called "When the Mist Clears Away," and it's on a 1983 Larry Groce album called Medicine Man. Not listed at Harry Fox, BMI, or ASCAP. Can you post the complete lyrics for us? -Joe- |

Subject: Origins: All Right When the Mist Clears Away From: Dan Schatz Date: 04 Feb 09 - 09:50 PM I'm looking for information about a song I recorded off of Mountain Stage 15 or more years ago. I'm not sure who sang it - it could have been Larry himself. I've been singing the song for a long time and am interested in recording it, but I don't know who the writer is, what's the proper title, and who to contact about recording it. I've never seen a reference to it anywhere else. The chorus goes: Just let the sunlight break through the darkness And the night send a beautiful day Don't let your shadows turn into mountains You'll be all right when the mist clears away. Does anybody know? Dan |
