Hi folks,

Good news – the weather forecast for this weekend is calling for sunny skies and warmer temperatures. If you've been suffering from "cabin fever", we have the perfect cure for you on Saturday night!

Since 1981, the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club has been Bergen County's home for acoustic music. The Hurdy Gurdy has presented some legendary names over the years and the club also made it possible for emerging artists to be introduced to audiences in our region - all at affordable costs, right in our own backyard.   I can recall seeing Christine Lavin for the first time at a Hurdy Gurdy concert as well as artists like Vance Gilbert, John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky and many others.

The tradition continues this Saturday night (February 7th) when the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club at the Fair Lawn Community Center presents a special "double-bill" concert with Ellis and Antje Duvekot.   Tickets are only $20 ($17 for Hurdy Gurdy members) and can be purchased online at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org or at the Fair Lawn Community Center on the night of the concert. (You can use a credit card or Paypal to order online, tickets at the door are cash only.)

Based on our strong advance ticket sales, it appears that many of you may already be familiar with these two extraordinary singer-songwriters.   If you are not, please be sure to visit the Hurdy Gurdy blogsite to listen to samples of their music – www.hurdygurdyfolk.blogspot.com .

Ellis is a rising star in the independent music scene. With her joyful, unpretentious acoustic pop style, this Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter has been steadily building a national following and has independently sold more than thirty thousand copies of her independently released CDs. Touring more than 130 dates each year, Ellis continues to build attention throughout the country with heart-felt songs that reflect her sincere graciousness, vibrant nature, and contagious sense of humor. You'll quickly be drawn in by her warmth and real-life journeys as reflected in her songs.

Antje Duvekot is one of the brightest singer-songwriters to rise out of Boston's competitive acoustic music scene. She is releasing her second studio album, "The Near Demise of the High Wire Dancer" on Black Wolf Records on March 17.   The Boston Globe has said that "Antje Duvekot's provocative, dark-eyed ballads are becoming the talk of the folk world. Duvekot has gotten hotter, faster than any local songwriter in recent memory."    Her song ""Merry Go Round" was used in a Bank of America national TV ad campaign that was seen during last year's Super Bowl.

This is going to be a very special night! Two great artists for the price of a single admission! The concert will begin at 8:00pm and you can purchase tickets online at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org up until 6:00pm, or you can purchase at the door – our box office opens at 7:00pm.   The Fair Lawn Community Center is located at 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.    For more information or questions, please call the Hurdy Gurdy Hotline at (201) 384-1325.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday night, it promises to be a truly memorable evening of music and fun!

Ron Olesko
President, The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club
