Subject: Help - music related stickers - Decals
From: Pete (inactive)

Hi,

I'm trying to re-cover my old guitar case and want to get hold of Stickers (Decals) etc.

Anything Music (or Place related) would be great, eg Company stickers, Group decals, events ads.

Any Ideas?

Anyone with stickers/decals who would kindly send them can do so to:

P.O.Box 44, Blackpool. FY3 8JP. England.

Thanks in advance for any help

Pete

I have a related question. How do you get the decals to stick permanently? Some of mine are ok but others tend to peel at the edges. I have one of the common guitar cases with the pebbled finish.

Pete, You may have come to the right place. I believe I have a box with about 500 decals and stickers. I've been a lot of places but never stuck 'em on, so better SOMEONE uses them. What kind of case do you have? Do you travel a lot?

Tony,

What I've done with a couple of my cases is use a spray adhesive as well as the 'sticky back' of the decal then when all the stickers were on I coated over it with a matt varnish spray.

Rick,

Being somewhat od a lucky person I have several guitars and stringed instruments - I play with several groups and several different styles from traditional folk music through C&W/Bluegrass to Rockabilly. We travel all over the UK but never seem to get abroad - so the cases I have covered already tend to be either local to the UK or UK dealers. I have two cases that are ready for covering a Martin (Dreadnaught) leatherette the other a rectangular mandolin case (very battered) but sound.

Anything you can spare would be welcome....

take care all and thanks for the offers of help so far.

Pete

I have an old one from ASCAP that says "Don't stop the music". If I can find it, I'll send it. Also, I used to sell these things, so I'll see if I can scare up the sample box and see what is in there. Barring that, if you really want to get exotic, I'll go buy you one with the Wyoming jackalope or some such nonsense on it:-)

Maybe we should start a Mudcatter Sticker Exchange??? Then we could all fake having been "there"?!!

I wonder if Rick has one in his box that says "My other instrument is a banjo". Possibly a market for one saying "my other instrument is a 'possum" !
:o)

Like the idea of a sticker swap!

Maybe some of the music companies could join in - lets face it's cheap advertising for them!

There is a product out there called Deco pag'e that you can paint over your prized stickers that is transparent and seals your paper goods to your case. You can find it at art suppliy stores.I glued parts of flyers and old ticket stubs to my case and they are still looking good after five plus years.

Pete, bit of a disaster - sticker wise. I found the old box with about 50 in it .... but 10 years of Canadian humidity had also (probably long ago) found it as well. What I have is ONE VERY THICK DECAL with many layers. It appears a bit like a deck of congealed baseball cards. Sorry about that, but I'm glad your gettin' a few.

Pete: I'll get you one from Winfield Kansas in September. The Walnut Valley Festival is 10 days of music, camping and more music. No sleeping allowed at this festival.
