Subject: BS: Songs For The Current Mess From: Rapparee Date: 10 Feb 09 - 09:29 AM Now, I don't know if this should be above or below the salt, so I'll let a clone move it if it's thought best to do so. I woke this mornin' (how's THAT for a song-related start?) thinking about the current financial mess and the song "Those Were The Days" popped into my head. Thinking more on it, the song "The Cat Came Back" showed up. Anyone else have any others? |

Subject: RE: BS: Songs For The Current Mess From: bobad Date: 10 Feb 09 - 09:40 AM Music for the meltdown: German composer makes melodies from stock charts Posted: February 09, 2009, 9:28 AM by Sarah Efron German composer Johannes Kreidler has used the data in stock charts - Lehman Brothers, Bank of America, General Motors, etc. - and converted it to song using Microsoft's music composition software Songsmith. The muzak-like results are hideous, but I give Kreidler full points for creativity. Check it out. http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fpmagazinedaily/default.aspx |

Subject: Lyr Add: BREAK EVEN From: bankley Date: 10 Feb 09 - 11:58 AM glad you asked.. Rap... I have a few minutes so...something from the new CD, it has a happy melody to it, ironic, almost Buffet-like (Jimmy not Warren) 'Break Even' Don't bail out that Ship of State Her sails are in tatters, scattered in the wake She's pulled too hard a-starboard Harbour's swallowed by the mist If she goes down or runs aground Who'll be around to hear the sound Will tomorrow ever remember this ? When those lucky stars cease to shine, Compass is broken and you're travelling blind And you find out this is not what it's cracked up to be If it's all about who ends up with more Who leaves their tracks upon the shore Don't count me out, this old road hasn't seen the last of me Rummage through the wreckage of damaged dreams and the triage of broken exposure While scavengers prowl a bandaged scene Behind badges of foreclosure We might break even, we might not even break at all Maybe just bend a bit, whatever fits Somewhere before the fall Don't those 'suits' have shiney asses with 'kick me' tatoos Life line's tied to an anvil where they hammered out the blues On another trail of tears so far from home Where Wall Street and Main do collide Down-on-luck gamblers beg for another ride Leaving children to witness, witless bubbles bursting in the foam So rifle through the luggage of raffled hope At the ICU of some poverty ward While the bottom drops out from under scaffold rope To leave you hanging like a sword We might break even, we might not even break at all Maybe just bend a bit, whatever fits Somewhere before the fall |
