There was a lovely fairy tale in my ex's Children's Classics, titled The Light Princess. All about a princess cursed from birth as having no gravity both emotional and physical. Meaning that she was buoyant in every sense of the word.

Her nurse had to tether her to the cot to keep her floating away as she pealed baby laughter. The story follows her growing up years where she discovered that in a nearby beloved lake, she had gravity. She could swim and feel her own weight. She loved the lake like nothing else.

A time came when it was time to marry the princess off, so the king announced that the man who could bring his daughter to tears would win her hand. Se saw all suitors off with laughter, no matter how sad their tales.

One day the wicked old aunt who had first cursed the princess annoyed at her blissfull happiness when she was swimming in the lake, decided to remove the stone stopper which kept the lake water from draining away. (There was an inscription on this stone - cannot remember it)

Anyway the princess fretting yet still unable to cry, charged one suitor to stand in the place where the water was draining away. He did so out of love for her and she would swim out to him and give him food and drink each day as the lake refilled. On the moment the water closed over his head, she realised she loved the young prince and burst into tears spell broken. He was rescued somehow and they .... yeah you guessed it lived sappily ever after.

Still it was a lovely fairy story. Wonder when Disney will discover it and ruin it.

The world is a STRANGE place, you know. I have a grand-niece who has a genuine genetic problem so she is compulsively happy. Give her a gift of any kind and it is the best thing anyone has given her ever, for example. Amongst other things, it means she has no sense of risk and will approach and chat to anyone in a completely trusting way. As a child this is just about tolerable but her parents are seriously worried about how she will cope when she is older.

But as I don't drink tea myself, it's pot luck as to what strength it comes out... I can just about manage weak, strong and 'industrial'...

Should I bring the Tea Fairy kit then?

Bubblyrat, on the up side (gleaned from camping close to her for about 15+ years at Towersey) she puts the kettle on promptly when she gets up in the morning (long with her normal clothes) and is "handy with the Tea" which is very welcome in the first flush of a days hangover!!!

Yeah, well, if Sundry will come and ring my doorbell when I'm getting a lie in for a change, then he should expect to be grumped at!

In my defence, I was perfectly happy and chirpy when I woke at my usual 5.00am, it was allowing myself to go back to sleep after 7.00 that was the mistake.

Don't do that! You scared me. I thought Squeak was seriously ill.

But after I understood, I clicked on the video and showed it to the DH. We both had a good laugh. More than one good laugh, in fact.

Question: if a person loves the video, does that prove she needs the drug?

Many of my friends and neighbours are insisting I get some....

I'm not so sure... has it been tested on animals? Apart from kindergarten teachers and realtors (estate agents for those in the UK) that is....

I will be carefully testing my food and drink on others for the entire weekend... Cllr, you are now my official food tester. Hope you like tripe and olives!

Do we really need a cure for LTS?

Assuming it is not actually some dreaded lurgy that I've never heard of, I think the link goes exactly where it was intended.

Cruel Cllr, cruel.

The link opens with a "video" ad (for Onion) that's probably either a Flash or jscript insert. If you can run whichever it is it shouldn't cause any problems, but if you're not turned on for the whatever it could hang you for a while. After about 30 seconds or so (maybe longer on dailup) it should send you on to the actual index page.

But the only "new drug" I saw didn't look like something for LTS. There was an article about a "local hero lady" and a video about the latest Sony introduction that were typical good onions, but I'm not sure the link actually goes where it was intended.(?)

Well, I'll change it to a non-link, just to be safe - but I had no problem with www.theonion.com

Do not link
It hangs on to the browser, and one has to close Mudcat.
