Well, it was a strange day out. Lots of interesting stalls with lots of good ideas and advice and lots of alternative therapies with no known evidence of effectiveness.

Thanks to Ged, Phil, Bill, Ken, Helen, Martin, Dave, Brian, The Bailey Sisters, Kate, Alan, Nigel, Anne and John for singing and playing tunes and hundreds of people who came down the sharp end of the Church to see what was going on. The space was not good for singing when the rest of the church was full of stalls and people but we did our best and quite a few people asked about playing and singing at the Beech.

Our photo will probably appear in the South Manchester Reporter and as a group of singers and musicians we have been invited to the St Georges Day Event which is being organised by St Johns RC Social Club which as I am sure you can guess is predominantly an "Irish" Club.

The Ceilidh with Brian, John and Midgebites was absolutely brilliant. The band and caller were as good as it gets and the crowd were up for everything. Lots of people had a great time at an event they had never been to before. Great spread of age and good beer to keep it going.

About 2000 people visited the Festival and the plans begin for next year.

Thanks again

L in C

Do they think green means gullible?

Simpler than that - they (and their customers) consider themselves to be green. It's not cynical - they don't see any contradiction between believing in some bits of science (e.g. global warming) and also believing in reiki and vortex healing and so on. (I don't know what vortex healing is either. I may have made it up.)

We had some fine singing and tunes, anyway - that's the main thing. Thanks to Les, Ged, Kate, Helen, Dave, Gordon and everyone I've forgotten (that cider was very strong).

Looks like a good one and I'll be there with Spleeno Jr who hopes some Morris dancers are going to turn up... at six he truly believes that Morris is cool. And you know what? He's right...

Why oh why, though, whenever there is a green event, do the snake oil merchants and voodoo practitioners always turn out in force? Do they think green means gullible?

Cheers

I think this is going to be an excellent day celebrating all things sustainable - not least Songs and Tunes mostly but not exclusively traditional.

We will be singing in the sharp end of the church and a very ingormal manner through most of the afternoon.

The day will conclude with a Big Green Ceilidh care of Midgebites.

Sngers, tune players, joiners in and listeners all welcome,

L in C
