Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: PeadarOfPortsmouth Date: 23 Feb 09 - 02:04 PM Well, for the time I was there (the last hour), it was a fine session. Everyone was in good form, although I have to say I absolutely loved Jeff Warner's presentation of "Jim Jones". Need to have my recorder nearby the next time he does it...definitely worth stealing. ;-) Hope to make the whole session next month. Peter |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: MaineDog Date: 22 Feb 09 - 07:22 PM Sorry I missed it. The impending and now current storm caused several of my scheduled events to reconstruct or self-destruct, and I ended up coming home too soon, leaving poor Dex abandoned in a kennel until we all dig out. Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: SINSULL Date: 21 Feb 09 - 10:40 PM Jacqui went, I think. I am home with tax returns and mid-winter blahs. I hope to sleep through the next 24 hours. |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: ranger1 Date: 21 Feb 09 - 05:52 PM Couldn't make this one, but am planning on next month. It'll be my birthday, so what better way to celebrate? And Jason will be coming too!!! |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: Jeri Date: 21 Feb 09 - 10:28 AM Ouch! I hope it all gets better very quickly. I'll be there. I can't sing and I'm still stuffy, but I need to get out of the woods for a while and around humans before the next snowstorm tomorrow. |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: GUEST,Peadar (formerly) of Portsmouth Date: 21 Feb 09 - 10:05 AM Linn, that's awful. "This too shall pass"...and hopefully in a fast and painless manner. Hugs, Peter |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: Bat Goddess Date: 21 Feb 09 - 08:41 AM Looks like I won't be making it this afternoon. What I thought all week was a mild bladder infection let me know loud and clear at 2:30 this morning that it is a kidney stone. Had one (and only one) of them 21 years ago. So...the good drugs that also kept me awake since 2:30 will get me through today at work. No, staying home from work is not an option -- we're majorly understaffed as it is, and, thanks to the drugs, I'm functional. (But, believe me, there's no FUN in "functional"!) Yeah, I know, I could flush the damned thing out with Smuttynose Robust Porter but by that time I think I'll be too tired to do anything but drive home and take the good drugs that DON'T keep me awake. I just hope I can stay awake, functional and more or less pain and pressure-free until then. Linn |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: TRUBRIT Date: 18 Feb 09 - 11:05 PM I know I know -- they pay no heed to my social life at all--just announce they are coming home and expect the red carpet!!!!!But - as I love them dearly and see this one, in particular, way too infrequently - the red carpet - she shall be rolled out! And I will miss the singing. |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: SINSULL Date: 18 Feb 09 - 09:42 PM We always get a space right outside the Press Room. Just bring quarters. LOL |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: Bat Goddess Date: 18 Feb 09 - 07:57 PM Park on Daniel Street. You'll have to go out and feed the meter midway, or you could park in the municipal parking garage on Hanover St. about 2 blocks away from The Press Room. Portsmouth isn't exactly crowded and it's fairly small as cities go. Session starts at 3:30 when it's daylight -- but this time of year it'sdark at 7:30 when the session's over. Linn |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: MaineDog Date: 18 Feb 09 - 07:36 PM This is beginning to look like a go. Where should I park? MD ( who no longer likes crowded cities, especially at night) |

Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: Jeri Date: 15 Feb 09 - 11:53 AM If this cold doesn't kill me before then and my voice works... (OK, maybe if my voice doesn't work.) |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: SINSULL Date: 15 Feb 09 - 10:53 AM My van is dying. Can't pass inspection and coughs when I accelerate. If I have a new/used car by then, I am a definite maybe. Mary |
Subject: RE: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: GUEST,Peadar (formerly) of Portsmouth Date: 15 Feb 09 - 10:50 AM I will be there towards the end, but family obligations have me detained in the early afternoon. But as you know, society arrives fashionably late anyway. ;-) Peter |
Subject: Feb. Shanty Session @ the Press Room(NH) From: curmudgeon Date: 15 Feb 09 - 10:45 AM The monthly shanty/forebitter/ballad session will take place at the Press Room in Portsmouth NH this Saturday, 21 Feb., from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. It would be nice to see a few of the faces that have been missed, esp. from Portland and Cape Anne, as well as all the others and maybe some newcomers - Tom |
