Subject: Scottish MudGathering 2009
From: John MacKenzie
Date: 16 Feb 09 - 01:35 PM

The third annual gathering will be held at the Achness Hotel Rosehall, Sutherland, again this year. Same venue as last year, as it proved very popular among attendees, with the food being especially fondly remembered by all.

Phone 01549 441239 to book your place. There is camping space, and there are local B&B's available. So no problem fitting people in.

Drop me a line with any enquiries you may have.

There was a 'could be OK I suppose' sort of commitment from himself but then I got a phone call from New Zealand, so if my mother (who is 77 this year and has been having "episodes" like mini-strokes) doesn't suddenly get worse, we'll be there. If she does take a downward turn, I'll be after cheap flights to NZ.

Thought I'd remind folks of this upcoming event, which is now the Failtéfolk Scottish McGathering. Or as MeganL called it The Achness Amble
There are still beds available at the hotel, for the discount rate of £25 pp B&B, but I shall be throwing it open to the Scottish mob that come to the gathering held earlier in the year, so it MAY fill up after I do that. There should be room though, there's plenty of space, here and there if needed.
I shall put details on my own website as well

This is now getting closer, so I thought I'd jog your collective memories, [yes memories!]
Trish, get your bum up tae Achness for this, or I shall have to come down there and sort you out ;)
We have promises of some weel kent faces for this one.

Hi John,
Sorry for not replying to your comments about my bum earlier on: been really busy with Linlithgow Folk Fest, which happened last weekend - any Mudcatters other than me there?
I'm really sorry, but don't think I will make it up this year - so you will have to come down and sort me out! Still up for Iceland next year if it happens!
I have friends in this area who might be interested, so I'm forwarding them the thread.
Orrabest,
TB

Still, much fun and music is being had, with Dave Goulder regaling us with excellence as usual.

Tattie.saltfish don't do much if anything now as Saltfish.....they are now "The chair" and brilliant to (They have several incarnations). They (The Chair) are at Celtic connections again this year. I've a real longing to get down to the gather. I've been to many others but since living on Orkney funds have been hard won and in short supply. We had hoped to be in the Lossiemouth area by this time when it would have been easier. I read these gather threads every year, so close, but also so far away.
