Hope I haven't left this too late - I've just come across my listings magazine, which I thought I'd thrown out.

Sage, Gateshead, has Jonatha Brooke. "Folk-rock singer, songwriter and guitarist. Her most recent album is of new songs to previously unheard Woody Guthrie lyrics." £15 / £7, 8pm

Tyneside Irish Centre, in Gallowgate, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eirann tour. "The best of the young all-Ireland champions paying a return visit." £7.50 / £5. 8pm

Thanks for all your help.   Am organised for Sat and will try to get to the Chillingham Arms tonight.

Any ideas for Sunday night.. I've got a folk virgin who wants to be converted

Julie

There's lots to do in Newcastle. I go up for the day occasionally. Even pottering round the shops and markets is fun. Plenty of museums too. A walk by the River Tyne can be quite pleasant. There's a castle too.

Or how about a visit to Seven Stories? It's all about children's literature and is really interesting. There's a cafe there and it is near the centre of Newcastle and fine for buses. I've been and it really is good.

Chillingham Arma folk club in the East end of Newcastle, near metro and busses. Davy Lamp folk club in Washington, if you have a car. Both clubs have excellent web sites

Hi there,

There is a folk concert in the Concordia Leisure centre in Cramlington, which I believe is about 20 miles north of Newcastle, on fri 20th feb featuring Mike Silver and Elbow Jane. Should be a fantastic evening as both acts are superb!

Details can be found here:   http://www.cramfolk.co.uk/

Hi

Anything interesting going on Newcastle on Friday 20th and Sat 21st of Feb.   Going up and for some reason all my friends seems to be out of town this weekend ( no jokes please).   Most things considered. Willing to listen, watch , have a wee sing. Will be based in the city centre but reliant on public transport.

Also   any ideas for a day trip by public transport on the Sat.   I was thinking going up Edinburgh as I haven't been up for ages but the train fare seems excessive.

Thanks
Julie
