Subject: RE: Peter Walker – 60s folk legend USA;in uk From: Joan from Wigan Date: 19 Feb 09 - 12:32 PM Seems Nancy hasn't got the complete list of all her gigs up. According to ents24.com Peter is at the GRV, Edinburgh (changed from Henry's Cellar Bar) on Sat 14.3.09. Nancy then joins him for the rest of the tour, including Tues 17.3.09 at the New Adelphi Club, Hull, plus the other dates I posted above. I've found two myspace sites for Peter, but neither has giglists up. |
Subject: RE: Peter Walker – 60s folk legend USA;in uk From: Joan from Wigan Date: 19 Feb 09 - 12:14 PM Dates for Peter and Nancy taken from her myspace site are: Fri 20.3.09 Miss Peapods, Falmouth Sat 21.3.09 Folk House, Bristol Sun 22.3.09 Cecil Sharp House, London She doesn't have the above Hull date on the list. And she's dropped the surname - she's officially just Nancy Elizabeth now. |
Subject: RE: Peter Walker – 60s folk legend USA;in uk From: matt milton Date: 18 Feb 09 - 12:01 PM well legend is kind of the wrong word really, but he is one of the those cult fingerstyle guitarists from the 60s, who plays in that folk/blues/raga/flamenco/whatever tradition: if you like John Fahey, Davey Graham, Sandy Bull, Jack Rose, or Robbie Basho it's fairly safe to say you'd like Peter Walker. I guess in the same way that people outside of the UK are less likely to have heard of John James or Dave Evans, people in the UK might not have heard of Peter Walker. But he's recorded quite a lot of stuff and has some serious chops. I believe he has a myspace page, like everyone does these days. I remember noticing Peter Walker's also playing a London date. It might have even been Cecil Sharp House actually. |

Subject: Peter Walker – 60s folk legend USA;in uk From: Willa Date: 18 Feb 09 - 11:44 AM Thought this might be of interest to some of you. Peter Walker – 60s folk legend (Woodstock USA) plus Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe TUESDAY 17th MARCH ADELPHI CLUB, De GREY ST , ( off Newland Avenue) Hull Peter Walker is Legendary 60s American folk guitarist; friend and accomplice of Karen Dalton and Sandy Bull; student of Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Kahn; 'musical director' to acid pioneer Timothy Leary; scholar of Flamenco. Peter Walker returns to the UK to play pieces from across his extensive, remarkable back-catalogue, from his early Vanguard output to the fine trio of LPs delivered since his 'rediscovery' by Tompkins Square, doubtless also dipping into an equally rich store of anecdotes gathered through a life lived in service of his instrument. |
