We're trying to get a regular session going in CT-USA for singing together. We have started a Facebook Group called "Unaccompanied Traditional Singing In CT". As soon as we get enough interest we plan to hold sessions where we will song swap ... etc. Join our site on Facebook or please get in touch here if you are interested.
Do you mudcatters know about a better way to publicize a group like this?

Go to www.folkjam.org and get your sessions listed there. It's FREE.

Just curious, living in Connecticut and all. Why are you limiting it to unaccompanied singing? You probably don't need a very large space to get together...

Who is "we"? Go to the Old Griswold Inn in Essex on a Monday night and join in plenty of fine traditional singing. Depends where in CT you are, I suppose.

Sound interesting .I will be in the US all of next month, some of it in the CT area. Where in Essex are the sessions being held ?. I am from Ireland and not adverse to a bit of traditional ballad singing myself.

Tell Sandy and Caroline Paton, who live in Sharon, Connecticut, and who run Folk Legacy Records. That's a great way to publicize it!

I would say decide right now if you want the blue books or not. It is totally fine if you do. It will be a different experience if you do or if you don't, and if you don't have a core of strong singers then that might be the preferred way to go. Just choose with or without and there are advantages and disadvangates of either. Just don't try to mix them or please everyone because it is probably impossible and this will save you all sorts of trouble in the long run. I would go with the blue books unless you have a really strong core group and the very strong desire to have it function this way. Otherwise, it is too much trouble. Just be honest and say what the structure will be and people will come or not according to their preferences.
