Following on from the yahoo-briefcase thread ...

... which I'd never heard of .....

I often email myself copies of documents to provide a backup and so that I can access them at home as well as work.
(University coursework mostly - nothing sensitive or confidential)

But Dropbox or Livemesh look like simpler options, Dropbox looking simpler to use (and it isn't Windows).

Has anyone used them ?

Anyone know how the services pay for themselves as there is no fee and no obvious advertising ????
