Just bought myself a tenor guitar. I initially tuned it cfcf and that sounds pretty good and with a partial capo at second fret you get cgdg. Any other good combinations anyone know of?

You might want to try
Tenor Guitar.com

there seems to be a fair amount of the information you're looking for.
Good Luck.

I use DGBE.
Has served me well for thirty years.
What did you get?

I play tenor banjo in traditional C-G-D-A tuning. A friend is making me a tenor guitar - and that's the tuning I shall use. Good for jazz and good for traditional tunes. Same fingering ratios as fiddle and mandolin - just a bigger stretch!

I've had at least one tenor geetar going back to the 60's and I have found that any open tuning works.... I change the tuning to fit the song...

BTW, the one I have now is a 30's Dobro made resonator...

But don't be too confined 'cause these things will handle all kinds of tunings...

B~

Had a wee look.
Nice enough guitar for the price.
Don't underestimate it.
CGDA was the original tuning for these instruments, being a crossover from tenor banjo but as Bobert says, "Don't be too confined 'cause these things will handle all kinds of tunings..."
I'm betting yours will put out some lovely tones when it breaks in.
