Hi all,

I'm pleased to announce the return of the irrepressible Chuck Fleming (fiddle and mandolin)who has played within innumerable outfits and locations ranging from the JSD Band of which he was a founder member to the entire duration of a bus trip from Edinburgh to Galashiels... Eastern Scottish, I believe. :-)

"Now living in North East England, Chuck plays with various country dance bands. He teaches "Fiddle" and Mandolin privately from home covering a broad range of styles, with all ages of pupils. In the last few years he has played festivals and clubs in England with the mighty singer and melodeon player Benny Graham. He provides the musical accompaniment for country dancing in schools' workshops in association with caller Burt Hunter.

In the recent past he has been engaged by the Folkworks organisation at the Caedmon Hall Gateshead and The Sage Gateshead as a workshop leader mainly in Fiddle tuition and as a Band workshop leader. Last year, 2006, he presented his "Travelling Fiddle" workshop to foreign students at Newcastle University Summer School and at Auchencruive College, Paisley University for The Common Ground organisation.

Chuck is presently collecting and composing music for a solo CD. To be recorded in May 2007. "

In this performance, Chuck will be accompanied by Kenny Davison whom is a very fine guitar, mandolin & bouzouki player and singer from Co Durham.

Kenny has written the music for 'Silver Coast' recently, which also features Chuck, and they produced a BBC Radio programme on the 'Silver Coast' this past January. Kenny Davison has played and recorded with Willie McDonagh the Irish uillean piper, in the 1970s and '80s; he lived in Co Kerry in the 1990s, playing and recording with All-Ireland fiddle champion Daniel O'Brien and All-Irerland accordion champion Daniel O'Mahoney. He also worked with singers Micky McConnell and Peggy Sweeney.

Chuck Fleming & Kenny Davison will present a programme of traditional and self-penned songs and tunes.

Chuck was also a member of that superb group ' The Champion String Band ' with Martin Matthews and Tommy Gilfellon, they only recorded one album, on vinyl, they ought to release it on CD, it's one of my all time favourite records.

It was on "Black Crow" records and I'm pretty sure that this is one of "those labels" where it isn't possible to do so, at moment..... he says "tactfully".... :-)

Chuck is a wonderful fiddler and huge fun to have around. Last time he stayed with me he crashed onto the sofa at about 4am too 'tired' to crawl upstairs to bed.
Aaaahh! That was a great night.
