Megan, in deciphering I have found that if I just slide along the text the words translate themselves and by the end first time 'round I've got it. I used to do the same with Little John; I like the exercise.

I just wanna make sure that Ernest's post re "swancatcher" does not get forgotten by me. Even as a young pup of 52 (at 12:10PM EST tomorrow - another story), I sometimes forget things. No swan's were harmed during "the incident", even tho they are vile and nasty creatures which deserve...

I've been in groups where Scots was a fairly typical form of communication. The rules are that any spelling that conveys pronunciation of the words is correct. (Then we non-Scots speakers figure out what the heck the word means.)

Well, as I type, 52 years and 30 minutes ago, I was born in Zweibrücken, West Germany. My old man, RCAF, told the story many times... he had a well trained Air Force wife who waited for him to get off work at 5PM and get to the hospital.

Received many well wishes by card, email, PM, telephone... and this thread is very heartening. Thank you all. Seriously, it means a lot to me. This community is a true treasure.

Been a great day so far. Bought a dozen red roses and delivered them to the one who delivered me. As usual, she said it was MY brithday and I shouldn't be getting her flowers. As usual, I told her her she was the one that did all the work and had all the pain... for 52 years and 9 months.

She told me stories about me as a wee lad. We looked at old pics. Laughed. Cried.

Skip ahead.... I am cooking up a huge spaghetti scoff and tossing back a few ales. Got a bunch of tapes and CDs lined up for entertaiment. Mostly my old stuff and your stuff, that is, tunes and such sent to me by you Mudcatters. Gonna party with my old buddies, Me, Mois and Jimmy Suis... and youse.

I would like to write each on of you a personal note of thanks and I will try to do so in due time.

For now, thanks. I gotta check the hob and put in another CD.

Microwave gives CDs a lovely crackled pattern. Sparks inside the micro are fun to watch too. Sadly you can't play the CDs after, but they make a nice clock face, if you happen to have spare hobby clock kit hanging about.
