Would appreciate if anyone has the lyrics for this tune done by the Gid Tanner band of yesteryear. Seems to be appropriate for these times. TIA
Stew

Subject: Lyr Add: WORK DON'T BOTHER ME (from Gid Tanner)

Hey, while searching for this song, I discovered a web site that is worth bookmarking: Roots of American Fiddle Music. [OK, I see it's been around a long time and it's been mentioned at Mudcat before, but somehow I missed it.] The Gid Tanner page is here.

Here's my transcription from the sound file I found there:

WORK DON'T BOTHER ME

1. I don't bother work. Work don't bother me.
I'm just as happy as a bumblebee.
Eat when I can get it. Sleep 'most all the time.
I don't give a doggone if the sun don't never shine.
Go 'most ev'rywhere. I don't pay no fare.
I can ride a freight train most ev'rywhere.
Looks might strange, strange to me.
Work, work, work don't bother me.

2. Old Bill [last name?] worked down in the holler,
Want to know the diff'rence 'tween a woman and a dollar.
Ain't no diff'rence, one and all.
A woman is large and a dollar is small.
Look-a here, Bill. [I'll] try to explain, make you understand.
A dollar will go from hand to hand.
A woman goes to workin' man, I'll talk about it,
A woman goes to workin' man.

[VERSE 1 TWICE]
